Non-fat Plain Yogurt is disgusting
Ok. My nutrionist told me to eat plain non-fat yogurt which I tried for the first time today and oh my goodness it was disgusting. I bought a few from Pathmark today and half of it was filled with water. It tasted sour but the expiration date is for August. I just came back from another supermarket and the same brand-Dannon looks like rancid milk. Can someone refer me to a brand that has non-fat yogurt that tastes good and smooth like the flavored ones-if it exists?
Absolutely. I LOVE the greek yogurt by Fage- you can usually find it in any good grocery store's healthfood section. Their non-fat is thick and creamy and delicious. 80 cals, 0 fat and 13 grams protein. I put splenda in mine mixed with fruit or flaxseed. Delicious. If you can't find Fage, you could try other brands of Greek yogurt. They are strained and very rich.

Non-Fat Plain Yogurt will taste sour if you eat it that way without adding anything. Its a plain yogurt, no sweetners etc.... did your nutritionist tell you to eat it "straight" or you can add stuff.... I don't think anyone eats that stuff on it's own.
I eat it all the time, and mix splenda & diced strawberries in YUMMY!!! Also its great with a little vanilla & splenda, or splenda & cinnamon.

Ninja is so right. That Fage yogurt is the best yogurt I've ever tasted! The consistency is unbelievable. You'd think you were eating something loaded with cream and fat it's so thick. It's a bit pricey, but worth it in my book! In our Hannaford grocery store, it's in the same section as all the other yogurts.

No such thing exists. Plain yogurt tastes like sour milk/cream whether it is fat free/low fat or regular. You can make it taste a little better using a sweetner, if you are into Splenda or any of the others, juice, but just a little or you will have soup. One thing about plain and vanilla, you do have to stir it not just dig the spoon in and start eating. I use the plain as sour cream instead of sour cream on potatoes and in tacos. The only other flavor I eat is vanilla...you can flavor the plain with extract but not sure how well that would work.

Besides being a picky eater, I'm also cheap. If you happen to have an Aldi's around you, their in store brand is "Friendly Farms." I buy their flavored low-fat variety. It's only 33 cents!!!! (In Chicago the area) It's delicious.
The one thing that concerns me is that has fructose, which is safe since its a natural sugar made from fruit, but its the the third ingedient listed on the label. I've heard people that have had the surgery say they never eat any kind of sugar that is listed in the first three ingredients. Since I haven't had the surgery yet (another 17 days and counting), I'm not sure if I will be able to eat it after.
Good luck with your search!
Hugs!
