Can you color your hair before surgery?

Hi, dear OH friends, I just realized my roots are about 2 inches long and looking a bit, shall we say, "tacky" - must be that ash gray on strawberry blond contrast effect - and I would feel better if I could touch them up before surgery Tuesday.  Go figure, people are going to be looking at my guts, sticking in/up tubes and I am worried about my hair... Do you think it's safe to use one of those root touch-up kits today? Thanks in advance for any ideas.  I just eased off my wedding and engagement rings and feel a bit bereft of identity,  I thought doing my hair might help. Love, Anne

I colored mine and got a perm before surgery. My logic was if it was gonna fall out in a few months, I might as well enjoy it before it left. I also colored it and permed it as a post op, my hair dresser was post RNY so she took every precaution and my hair did very well.  Gina

You can color your hair anytime pre-op or post-op. Prayers for a complication-free procedure and speedy recovery are coming your way!

There should be no problem. In fact, better to do it before than after. Anesthesia can affect the way color takes. Use your normal color. Those "we match every color" root touch up things sound scary. Especially if you have a considerable amount of regrowth. How do I know this? Hairdresser of 20 years. Best of luck with your surgery!

I had a hair question as well, Can i get my zillions in before surgery. For those of you don't know what zillions are,They are hundreds of tiny braids. I don't want  to have to worry about my hair when i get visitors. HUH  "Is That Crazy Or What"?

Honey, before I lost 145 lbs., my hair was ALL that kept my ego intact.  I don't think it's crazy at all.  And I love those braids.  I always say that if I were black, that's how I would wear my har - it's very flattering and looks easy to care for. XOXOXO, Sharyn

Hey Faatima, Go get those zillions on .  If you're gonna lose some hair, it won't be for a couple months after surgery. Low maintenance is a good way to go.Good luck with your surgeryLunchlady

Hi Faatima, I'm needing to braid my hair up soon ( I wear braids for the most part anyways) can you give me some info on Zillion braids?    Are they sort of like Micro braids? How long does it take to get this done? What kind of supplies do you use during/for application of the braids? How long do they generally last? Sorry about the hundreds of question, but I am a bit out of date on the latest braiding styles. If you'd rather, you can PM me with any info that you can give me...O' one more question, do you know if there is a place on line that I can access a photo of this hair style? Thanks in advance for your time, ~~~Triple C.~~~
