Topic: RE: What are my chances??
Thanks. I forgot to post the followup to my earlier post.
I emailed them after my earlier post and they replied and did exactly what you just said. They directed me to a link that spelled it all out and from what I read, I qualify, at least enough, to make an appointment and get the ball rolling to meet all the requirements.
I forgot to post in the beginning that I also have had high blood pressure since my son was born in 2007. (I had congestive heart failure due to postpartum cardiomyopathy)
So, I have a bmi of at least 35 with high blood pressure. (i have sleep apnea but not to the degree to meet their criteria)

Call them. They will refer you to a link that will spell out exactly what you need to qualify. Follow it to the letter.....I did and had no issues getting approved....although my BMI was over 50.
Best to you on your journey!

just read this in my policey under excemptions: "This exclusion does not apply to surgery for morbid obesity if medically necessary and in compliance with guidelines of Blue Cross. Benefits will only be provided for one surgical procedure for obesity (morbid) per member under this plan"
It doesn't even mention the bmi or comorbidity.
I just don't see how I could possibly self pay. I'd hate to see the loan officer when I told them what the loan was for.... no telling what the interest would be.

First and foremost you need to ensure your plan covers bariatric surgery. Then read and follow their guidelines. If you do not meet the requirements of your plan, chances are slim they will cover it.
There are options for self pay and making a loan as well. If you've determined WLS is the only release from obesity, do everything humanly possible to get it!
Best to you.

Hi Louise,
I am definately hoping that there is a connection with the gain and the travel, I told myself that I would allow my body a week to return to it's normal state. B1 sounds like a possibility. It never hurts to increase the vitamins. I'll pick some up after work today.. Let me know if you see any difference when you weigh.
Thank you and Be Blessed.

Glad that you had a good time Lisa. Do you think that it just migh be ****er weight due to the higher elevation and sitting on the plane? As they say tomorrow is a new day so we can start over. It is a day to day struggle. Leslie mentioned that she had started taking B1 and had lost around 10# in just a couple of weeks. I got me a bottle and can already tell the difference. Not sure if I have lost any as I only weigh once a month. Want hurt to give it a try.

Well let me tell you ASPEN is fabulous! We had a wonderful time.
The food was amazing, but not nearly as Amazing as the view!
I did become frustrated when I returned home because I just KNEW I would have lost a little weight. I walked about 4 times as much as normal, (no need for a car) drank lot's of water and shared my husbands meal instead of ordering. Nope....I gained! Somedays I just want to SCREAM! The surgery was the best thing I could do, but right now I have got to get this under control. Anyway, I will never give up and am ready to continue on refreshed and invigorated and ready to continue BATTLING Obesity!
Blessings,
Lisa
