Topic: RE: Thursday! Whatcha Eatin? R U Exercising?
Good Morning. I've done a really crappy job the last few weeks. When i started the house project i seemed to have lost my good eating habits and plans. my protein is STILL packet up in a tub in the garage..

A guy at work had a stroke, he's just a few years older than me, really young. (im only 27) So we're trying to raise money for his family bc his wife doesnt work and they have 3 children. Anywho, we're starting a weight loss competition Monday and it goes on for 6 weeks. For every pound you lose our boss will donate $1 for Jeff. Its a 20$ entry "fee" per person to donate also. The prize is a paid day off. I know theres no way i'll win it bc we've got men here that need and probably can lose 20-30lbs in 6 weeks. As a woman we lose slower but im wondering what is a good realistic goal for 6 weeks? i want to work VERY hard on this because its the FIRST time the whole office is doing this and because im the one that has to go get the whole office's lunch daily. This way hopefully the boss will be eating salads and i can NOT go get lunch. Its a struggle for me at work bc even when i bring my lunch, i have to go get everyones. And the boss always gets the pick (he isnt very healthy) But its hard for me to not order lunch. So todays the last day for that. I'll be going grocery shopping and stocking up. Im going to try to do strictly protein and very very littlecarbs for 6 weeks. wish me luck cus im definitely going to need it!

Anywho, im really excited about this!!!

I researched him on the Internet (there are several sites where you can review/research a doctor) and more importantly, I knew several of his patients!  I also know several people in the medical profession and they spoke very highly of him.

Topic: RE: How do you function?
Honestly, I never felt all that fatigued.  I guess we "live off the land" so to speak...we've got plenty of stored fat to keep the body functioning.  I just felt so much better as the weight came off, I didn't realize how little I was living off of.

The most important thing to do in those early weeks is to let the body heal and get your water and protein in.  After that, as your meal plan progresses, the key is making every calorie count--consume good wholesome foods and leave the junk alone.

Over time, we all find that we can eat a certain amount of "not so good" stuff, and in moderation that is fine.  In the that first year though, it is best to take advantage of the maximum losing phase and retrain your body on what is good food.

Best to you!

How do you function the first few weeks on such few calories?  My son will be 5 by the time I end up having the surgery and I'm jus wondering how I will take care of him if I'm weak and fatigued.

I'm with Lisa--he is amazing, and I'd use him again in a heartbeat!  As a matter of fact, I have....had to have two lumps removed and he did that surgery last year.

Topic: RE: Weigh****chers?
Please DO NOT rely on your doctor for WLS insurance approval requirements!  They vary by company/plan--the only place to get reliable information for WLS requirements is from your insurance company-and get it all in writing.

I had mine with BCBS of AL.  I called and discussed the requirements and they referred me to a link that spelled it all out.  I used it as a checklist.  WW was NOT approved for the medically supervised 6 month diet.  I had to go to a physician and he had to fill out a specific form for each visit (the form was also on the website).

I followed it to the letter and approval was a breeze.

I'm not sure what the requirement are but when I was going thru the process I had to have a doctor supervised weight loss. In most cases it's best to talk to your primary care doc about weight loss surgery and go once a month to build your documentation. The first visit won't could against the months meaning if your plan requires 6 months of supervision you'll go 7 times to see your doctor.

Have you looked at your policy to see what the requirements are?

Good luck!
