This may not be what you want to hear but this is my "two CENTS" I am an employee of the health care industry. I work for a surgeon and the biggest issue we have is a problem with government insurance (medicaid/medicare). The government does not pay the actual charge they pay what "they" deem as reasonable. Therefore, a doctor could provide you with that $14,000.00 surgery and only receive $125.00 after everyone in the industry receives their cut. Hospital, radiology, surgery staff, floor nurse, lab tech's, housekeeping, dietary, administration, and all the ancillary dept's involved. Those "DOCTOR'S" have to make a living and pay taxes in order to provide SSI/Medicaid/Medicare the funds they need to provide "disabled" individuals with healthcare. Call your congressman, and Senator's and tell them to pay the actual costs. It's not the DOCTOR!

Please don't feel the need to detail your medical issues that have you on disability. I myself, have Epilepsy and Diabetes and I work 40-60 hours EVERY WEEK of my life.

TGIF! Tonight we are going to the Alabama Theatre to see Rocky Horror!! Can't wait!! I've got my prop bag ready to go.
Did you weigh today? I was down about 4.5 lbs. I don't think I've done anything to "lose", but I was on about a one month "hormone rage"...and I think that had me up a bit.....can we say EARLY MENOPAUSE??!!! I think the symptoms are starting to rear their ugly head.....
Eats today:
B-1/2 c cottage cheese with NSA peaches and 1/2 slice ww toast
S-pear
S-Chobani
L-going out with bosses today-Superior grill
D-not a clue! will grab a bite before we head to the movie, and then we'll probably do Waffle House afterward
no exercise today-tomorrow I'll run and Sunday is yoga
Have a great weekend!!

My sister had the VSG in March 2009 and has had great success! You are doing the right thing....try to get used to all the things you'll have to do for life like supplements, giving up sugar, eating smaller meals and chewing very well. Of course it will all be easier once you've had the surgery, but you can start to change behaviors now.

Check the guidelines for that surgery and try to implement as many of the changes now as possible. I also recommend that you start exercising NOW. It will make your recovery so much easier and then you'll already be in a good habit once your surgery is complete!
Best wishes on your journey and let us know if we can help in any way.
Kim Yes, I am having the vertical sleeve done. Good to know it goes by fast. I have started doing protein shakes and cutting calories and increasing water. Exercise start up next week. Tanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.
