My daughter's wedding is that weekend so I'll be in Bham.  Otherwise I'd be there!  I'm actually headed down there this weekend to have my sister take my daughter's bridal portraits at the botanical gardens.

I don't think of myself as an inspiration by any stretch of the word.  I am just a food addict in recovery.  Are you coming to New Orleans or was it you that had a wedding that weekend?????  My feeble brain is on overload

 Before & After Submission Instructions

Are you interested in sharing your weight loss success with others?
Before & After Photos are an excellent way of doing that!

The Photo Department is accepting submissions for consideration in the OH Before & After GalleryOH Magazine or in the OH Newsletter. Here is how you can participate:

Before & After Gallery Instructions

1. We ask that you have either lost 100 lbs or be at / near goal.
2. Please send your username, email address and photos to [email protected]
3. Photos should preferably be non-cropped original, preferable front facing with similar pose and non busy backgrounds.
4. If you would like the photos to be captioned, please also include that in the email as well.

Newsletter & Magazine Instructions

1. Photo Release form. Please initial where needed and provide all the needed information - it will remain confidential (Click to download your authorization form: PDF). You can return it by fax, or scan and email to the email address on the form.

2. Before & After Photos. Photos ideally should be non-cropped original, preferably front facing with similar pose and non busy backgrounds. Please submit one or more before photos and one or more after photos if possible to [email protected]. Photos  for the magazine should be a high resolution, 300dpi—or in non-technical terms, please send photos in their original state that you can zoom in on and make very large without them getting fuzzy or blurry. We know that sometimes you may not have access to high resolution photos but that is ok, we can still consider smaller web-sized photos for the newsletter!

•         Method of weight loss (RNY, DS, Lap-Band, VSG, Diet & Exercise, etc.)
•         Your Surgeon’s Name

Get those umbrellas out!  We are gonna get some more rain today!

Last night I did my P90X+ and then when DH got home he wanted to walk the neighborhood, so I did that too!  It was hot and muggy--not as nice as last Wednesday when we walked.

Eats today:

B1-Jimmy Dean D-Lights breakfast bagel
B2-grilled chicken breast
L-Lean Cuisine Pizza
S-strawberries
S-Chobani mango yogurt
D-salmon and veggies

Dessert-NSA ice cream bar

Exercise today will be P90X+ core and maybe some running--depends on the weather (I might get on the treadmill if I can't go out....we'll see)

Research all four major WLS-Lap Band, VSG, RNY and DS.  There are others, but these are the four most commonly used today.  There are successes and failures with each, and pros and cons for each as well.

You must determine which one fits your health/life best--this is forever.  Remember, with any WLS you must completely overhaul your lifestyle to be successful long term, and that includes making regular exercise a part of your life.  Start now--it will make recover so much better.

Welcome, and let us know if we can help in any way.  I wish you much success on your journey.

Each of us will have our own opinion.  Research each surgery, consider your individual lifestyle, health and go from there.  For some of us we need only restriction and go for the banding whereas some opt for RNY.

Think about your personality traits and overall health and ask your surgeon his opinion.  Follow your heart.  Don't second guess yourself or your decision.

I, personally, was not a sweets eater and wasn't a binge eater. I just loved food.  I was an emotional eater.  I opted for banding (I am also 10 years out).  I needed restriction to tell me to stop.  My band has worked.  I did not have to take the B-12 injections and with the exception of a Vit-D issue that is non-WLS related I have had smooth sailing.

Welcome to the "family"

Topic: Getting started
I am getting started on the whole process. I have just scheduled my consult appt with a dr to determine which surgery would be better for me. I am trying to get opinions from some people who have had either gastric bypass or the lapband. Can you please give me some opinions?
