<Soft Diet>
Hi all, I am hoping someone can explain soft diet to me and how to get through this two week food journal. It is a requirement to be schedule for surgery, and honestly I have tried but I am hungry no matter what because it is not enough food. What should I eat? How do I break the food addiction? I have canceled my appointment so I can get this right. Someone please help…
I think everyone probably has a different idea on breaking the food addiction but I made it through my 2 week "diet" before my surgery by concentrating on the end result. I ate cottage cheese, sugar free pudding, string cheese, broth from all kinds of soup and drank lots and lots to keep the stomach full of low or no calorie stuff. Find something to occupy your minds and your hands. Read if you enjoy that or crochet or knit or putting together puzzles. Just anything to keep your mind engaged and not thinking about food. Stay away from activities that you routinely do while you eat.
Hopefully this helps you in some way. There's lots of people on here that have been at it a lot longer than I have and I'm sure you'll get lots of good suggestions. Hang in there and keep that appointment!

I didn't have a pre-surgery diet. However, I think you are very wise to get a handle on the food addiction before you have surgery. Have you tried Overeaters Anonymous? Or therapy? There are some options for help with the head issues.
I find when I think I'm hungry if I drink hot tea it really helps.....also, I eat pickles when I think I'm hungry.
I applaud you for reaching out for help before your surgery.....I'll bet when the time comes you will be such a great success story!
