Steroid weight gain

I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease about 6 months ago and my gastroenterologist put me on Entcort EC which he assured me would not cause weight gain.  Well, within two months I gained 30 lbs.  I have discontinued taking it (after discussing alternatives with my dr) but am still stuck with 30 extra lbs.  I have cut back on my portion sizes and completely quit snacking (grazing) but the weight persists.  I am soooo angry that I didn't research that medication when it was prescribed because I could have prevented this.  He changed my meds and I have read up on all of the new ones and none of them list "rapid and significant" weight gain that Entecort EC warns against.

Just venting!  And what makes it even worse...I am booked the the cruise in February and all my swim suits and cruise clothes are size 10 (and I am now pushing it with 12s).  Hopefully I can get some of it off before the cruise.

Wish me luck and thanks for letting me vent

Sandy it is going to take a little bit for the meds to get out of your system.  Push the fluids and go back to protein first stick with it.  I know that I may get flogged for this but I am going to say it anyway.  Nowdays all the doctors want to do is put us on steroids and not treat the problem.  The one thing that has stuck with me ever since nursing school was that steroids did nothing but cover up the problem and was not good for us.  You will be back down by the time that this boat sets sail.
