Does anyone know what the law is for an adult to legally change their last name?  As of today my ex has lost all rights to have his name attached to my child.  OK said child is 19 and he lost her today.  We have lived here for over 2 years I pay AL taxes and have an AL drivers lic.  Any insight would be so very helpful!!

It should be fill out the form, pay the fee for it to be processed by the probate court. Here's a link to a site where it can be done - I'm not sure about the cost:

Hey Toni.  I know that after all the paper work was done Julie was issued a new birth certificate and SS card. Hers was an adoption though and we went through the a judge and all. ~kisses~ amy
