NO MEDICAID DOCTORS

WELL FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS AND IVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND I CAN TELL YOU THIS,FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE ON MEDICAID AND ARE NO DOCTORS IN THE STATE OF ALABAMA ,SO BLESSED AS THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE MEDICAIR AND OTHER INSURANCES,PARDON MY FONT IM NOT SHOUTING THIS IS SO I CAN SEE WHAT I TYPE,.ANYWAY IM AM ANGRY CAUSE I DO FEEL THOSE OF US WHO ARE ON MEDICAID ARE BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BECAUSE WE ARE ON MEDICAID,THIS MORNING AT 8 AM JULY 20 2010 I CALLED MEDICAID AND ASKED FOR A LIST OF DOCTORS WHO TAKE MEDICAID AND DO THE LAPBAND, AND ASKED THE LADY ON THE PHONE 3 TIMES TO MAKE SURE THESE DOCTORS DO THIS AND TAKE MEDICAID SHE REASURED ME THEY DID,WELL I CALLED 7 OF THEM AND GUESS WHAT NONE DID!!!!!! WE WHO ARE ON MEDICAID ARE AFRAID OF SPEAKING OUT AND BEING ANRGRY FOR FEAR OF LOOSING THERE INSURANCE ,IVE BEEN IN THE CHATROOM HERE ON THIS WEBSITE AND I SEE HOW HAPPY THOSE OF YOU WHO  HAVE HAD THE WEIGHTLOSS SUGERY ARE AN SOME EVEN ATTACK ME FOR ASKING QUESTIONS SOME SEEM ANGRY THAT I ASK QUESTIONS ON GETTING INO SAYING IM NOT TRYING HARD ENUFF.TO DO RESEARCH ,LOOK I HAVE CALLED AND EVEN DROVE TO OFFICES AN AND BEEN ON THIS COMP FOR WEEKS LOOKING AND EVEN TALKING TO OTHERS WHO ARE ON MEDICAID AND ASKING THEM QUESTIONS,I DID NOT ASK TO BE GIVEN DIABETIS AND I DID NOT ASK TO BE GIVEN LUPUS AND I DO NOT WANT TO DIE AS MY MOTHER DID FROM COMPLICATIONS OF THISE DISEASE,AN SOME SAY TO BE WHO HAVE HAD THE WLS HUN YOU SHOULD EAT BETTER YOU SHOULD EXERCISE,WELL I SAY TO THOSE,WHY ARE YOU ADVISING ME WHEN THAT DINT WORK FOR YOU AND YOU STILL HAD TO HAVE THE SURGERY,????????????SO ANYWAY IM ANGRY AN I HAD TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST,NOW I WILL CRY SINCE I KNOW MY FATE

I am so sorry for what you are going through Tammy.  I was very blessed to have a job that provided wonderful insurance that covered my surgery.  I cannot imagine how I would feel if I kept running into brick walks the way you have.  I don't have any answers for you but you will be in my prayers.  I just feel like there has to be someone who can help.  Please stay active on the Board and come out and yell, fuss or cry anytime.  Again, I am so sorry.

Tammy, I am so sorry for your frustration.  I was hoping you would be helped with the post about medicaid and medicare doctors.  I do not know personally about this because I have Blue Cross ins.  I know I was blessed to have that ins. and even though I was denied one time they eventually paid for my surgery.   Do you mind my asking why you are on medicaid?  The reason I ask is because if you are determined disabled after two years you change over to medicare.  At least that is what I think.  Do you think you may go on medicare in the future? 

Go ahead and cry.  Scream if you need to but then pull up your boot straps and keep working for what you want and need.

Now about the people who were so uncaring and rude to say the things about you not doing your part to fight the weight problem, forget it!!!  It will only make you more angry to dwell on them.  The greatest weapon you will ever have to fight these things is the ability to ignore!!  Easier said than done, I know but I promise it will bring much satisfaction.

Come on back here often and let us support you through this journey.  We will cry with you when you have the difficulties and then we will celebrate with you when you WIN!!!

The Alabama board is the most supportive one I've visited.  I too had BCBS thru my DH's employer and it covered my surgery.  The company I work for specifically excludes it as many do.  I'm sorry for the roadblocks you keep running into-hang in there!

So sorry you are running into so many roadblocks. Have you considered an option besides Lap Band? Maybe that would be helpful.....just don't give up. Good luck!

I just replied to your other post under the Medicaid Drs list.  I responded that there are 2 drs in Alabama that do take medicaid, but each dr is different on which surgery they will do.  I didn't realize you were only interested in the Lapband.  The ones I called do the gastric bypass, but I'm not sure about the Lapband.  Seems like one did say they no longer are doing the lapband but I don't recall which one since it isn't what I was looking for.
I just got off the phone with them 15 mins ago, so as of today, they both accept Medicaid.  Dr Steven Isbell in Ft Payne and Dr William Richards in Mobile.
