My peace I give to you; not as the world gives.  (John 14:27)

What the world offers as "peace" is an illusion, even though it seems to be the solution.  It is kind of like a mirage in the desert.  A mirage has absolutely no ability to quench anyone's thirst, but it sure does look like it to the person who is stranded in the desert and thirsty.  The world regards peace as being the by-product of doing the right deeds, saying the right words, working on the right job, or having the right intentions.  These are not at all the criteria for peace described in God's Word.  Peace is an inner quality that flows out of a right relationship with God.  Peace only comes from the Father.  I see so many people each day who have turned to drugs and alcohol to find "peace".  Unfortunately, that only brings more problems.  It reminds me of me....I turned to food to feel better and have peace.  That only lead to distruction and almost death for me.  Peace, peace marvelous peace, flowing down from the Father above...what a beautiful song.  Do you have that peace today?  If not, just ask Him.  Even in the midst of a storm, you can still have perfect peace.
