lapband adjustments

would any of you share with me how many adjustments you had the first year? i had lapband surgery in june 2009. i was due my 1st adjustment in july. due to cancelled appts and schedule conflicts, my dr was unable to adjust me till september. she moved to ohio soon after my adjustment.

now i'm having trouble finding a bariatric surgeon who will take me, since they didn't do my surgery. i need a 2nd adjustment, and i'm getting frustrated that i'm falling behind with my weight loss. my dr said i should easily lose 11-15 pounds a month, so i should be at 66-90 pounds lost, yet i've only lost 40 pounds..

anyone else have similar problems?

Hi there.  I did not have lapband, but I wanted to say hello.  Also, have you contacted Dr. Bryan Freeman??  He does lapband and may be able to help you.  He is in Anniston.  Freeman and company is his office. (256-236-1300)  Please let us hear from you.  I wish you all the best!!!

Have you called Dr. Maliapur's office in Huntsville? He did my lapband surgery in August of 2008. He does his fills at Huntsville Hospital under fluro. I'm guessing you had Dr. Murril (sp?) I've only had 3 fills and I have good restriction.

Also I'm not sure if you can make them but we have a lapband support group that meets at Hsv. Hospital Wellness Center the first Thursday of the month. If you're interested I can PM you the details.

Also there is a Fill Center USA in Nashville.

PS Regarding the amount of weight loss a month usually most banders aim for 1 to 2 lbs a week but as you lose more weight it does drop off. I lost most of my weight in the first 6 months. Don't get worried if the weight doesn't come off quicker.

i've had car problems since last spring and had been borrowing one for my appts. so i had hoped to use a local dr for my follow-up care, but he hasn't started doing them yet. i tried to get in with dr suggs in decatur (45 miles), but he didn't want to pick up another surgeon's work. my family dr is explaining the situation to them today. we'll see. my last resort will be going back to huntsville, only because of the distance (70 miles). i think it's dr malipur who has agreed to take on dr murrell's patients. it's just a problem for me to get over there. i had my surgery and adjustment at huntsville hospital, and love that place!!!

i do get the mail for the group meetings from huntsville. there's just no way to get to them :(

Best of luck getting a lapband Dr! If you get the emails from Angi email her back and I want to say that there is a WLS group that's started over in the Muscle Shoals / Florence area. I'll go back thru my emails and will look.
