Friday hugs
Sending out hugs on this awesome Friday morning. You all have you a great great day. I love ya!!!!
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:38-42)
Martha had opened her home up to Jesus and was running around doing things in preparation probably for the afternoon meal. However, Mary sat at Jesus feet listening to Him. Martha was distracted by getting things ready and, as I do often, not listening very well. She was doing what she thought was best. She was helping in her way. She had opened her home to Jesus and was making things good for Him. But unfortunately, as many, she was not listening to Him. She was too busy. When she told Jesus that she was doing all the work and Mary wasn't helping her and asked Him to tell her to help, he simply replied that she was worried and upset about many things, but Mary was doing what was needed...she was listening to Him. How often we are distracted by the things of this world, when we just need to be quiet, sit at the feet of Jesus and listen. We will learn much more if we stop and be still.
