WLS issues

Renee post just jogged my memory to post this for all of you post-ops. My daughter sister in law is in UAB very ill. She is 6t years post op. She is sever deficient of vitamins and minerals. The doctor said it was all WLS related. She has been in a coma and has paralysis. She is now awake but still has some paralysis. Brandi said she had been taking her B12 monthly and all her vitamins.  I am not sure if she has been following up with her labs, so please if you are not taking what you should let this be a wake up call. The doctors has told her husband that it just did not happen but had been building up for quite a while. Also please have those labs done yearly or more frequently if need be. Also make sure that some one who has knowledge about WLS reads those and know what to look for. This has been a wake up for me.

That is scary.  There definitely are people out there who have been compliant with their vitamins, etc. and are still having serious issues. We all need these wakeup calls for sure.
