I just got the news that my insurance will cover both surgeries the bypass and the band.  I haven't made my mind up yet, and I am looking at going to see Dr. Clifford Black.  I live in georgia and my insurance is forcing me to go to certain places.  I would really feel better about the whole thing if I could talk to some others that have used him.  Thanks!

I know there have been some here on the board off and on that have used Dr. Black.  I really haven't heard very many GOOD things about him though.  My suggestion would be to seek another doctor.  Or, just be on the safe side and research everything you can on Dr. Black.

I have used Dr. Black For years. He did my WLS 11/07. I trust him completely and I would not use anyone else. Please go see him, I don't think you would be disappointed. He and his staff are very nice and will make you feel at ease and answer any questions you have. I'm sure they will help you make the right choice. If there is anything I can help you with please let me know.

I used Dr Black as well,  five years out and NO PROBLEMS at all.  As a matter of fact he did my gall bladder and every other surgery I have had over the years.
He is a wonderful Dr, but their after support isnt as I thought it should be....That didnt matter to me though as I was looking for a surgeon who i could trust to do that surgery (RNY) ..
Anyway the aftercare may have changed now and could be excellent ..I use my internal med Dr for all the labs .blood work , levels etc now so not sure.
Good luck and contact me if you want too ..
Hugs and skinny wishes to you

PS  LOST 121 and still a 10 for 2 years now ,,,Well was a 6-8 first 2 years but we have a normal bounceback weight of aout 15 lbs give or take so I am there :)

uh...yeah...my mom used dr. black a few years ago, and his "care" caused us to have to race her to UAB to save her life while she vomited her own feces. i recommend dr. freeman instead-their offices are just a few blocks apart and you'll never find a better surgeon.
