Hello, How are you all doing?

I have not seen Fireproof, but as a counselor,  who had a recent client see it, I am a little ambivalent about recommending it.  It may have some down side ...like A Beautiful Mind subtly encouraged people to not take their meds.  In this case, it encouraged her to go back to a relationship that most likely is not in her best interest.  So I am careful about encouraging people to see movies.  There is a therapeutic book out now that is titled:  Take two movies and call me in the morning.   Cinema therapy is recommended by some people,  but you have to be really careful about how they interpret it.

I have the new John Grisham book, The Appeal...and Kyle is welcome to it.  I have finished it.

I went to get my hair highlighted this morning at 10 AM and did not get out of the beauty shop until nearly 4 PM.  So I had Chinese takeout for  high tea....it wasn't lunch or supper.

I guess that just about comments on everything for me.  What is up with you?

Carla, I think this is good advice. It is amazing how some people use movies, other relationships, and etc. as yard sticks to measure their problems.  Every individuals problems and emotional crisis is different.  I never do that even though I have had friends who call me up and try to do that  in their lives as well as mine.

Every situation is different and every person is different.  We must factor in everything about us as individuals when considering the best way to handle our own situation.  My first resort always is praying about it!!

The way I view a movie is that it is just a movie.  I love a good comedy and feel good movies. So many times I laugh and repeat the old cliche "only in the movies"  and I tell friends that it would be nice if life could only be  that simple.  I hate scary movies and even though they are not real I think about them for days so I never watch them.  I guess I like pleasant thoughts lingering instead of creepy ones.

I watch movies because I ENJOY them. Watching a movie and trying to get your life to be like the movies-- now wouldn't that be nice. I'd put in a DVD and become that character. Put all life's problems in and when I PLAY - no more problems.. yeah, OK.
I'm sorry I guess I never thought about it the way you do, being a counselor.
I pick up a book and read it to enjoy it, same as a movie. I think well, that was nicely written or done. And move on to the next one.
I guess I didn't think about how it might effect someone who has emotional problems.

Anyway.. I'm off to church. Then home to fix some lunch for my boys.
Jacob is selling candy bars. I haven't bought any. Someone on our street bought 20 candy bars. I didn't see her but I think back to a time when I would be buying them from him (Or my other son) every day he came home with more. Now, I don't think about them at all. How WLS changes our way of thinking. Now, I'm just trying to find someone else to buy them. He's done well selling them. Only - we went to the Wharf yesterday and well --- it was like a Ghost town. I think WOW, what the economy has done to all these places.

Enjoy your day!!

Hey Karla.  I do understand  your way of thinking.  I just simply WANT to see the movie.  :)  I love and appreciate ALL your advice and wisdom.  You are such a good friend to me and I love and appreciate YOU for being who you are.

As for THE APPEAL, I KNOW Kyle hasn't read that one for sure.  The last one he read was Brethren.  Holly got him that one for Christmas.  So, thanks for offering it.  I know he will enjoy reading it.

How did your hair turn out?  I'm doing my own from now on.  I'm NOT going to pay that high price when I can do it myself and get better results that I have the past few times I've paid someone to do it.  I hate what it is now.  I just hate it.  I'm going back to all one color and it will be dark brown again for sure.  NO more highlights for me, unless I do 'em myself.  They do have those kits too, if I wanna go that route.

Well, since I just now saw this post, I suppose you can read from all my other posts to see what I've been up to all weekend.....LOL
