WLS...Not there Yet...

Hi...
I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me how long does it take to get past the fears and confusion about having WLS?  I have been dieting off and on for the past 2 years and can't seem to drop the weight. Has a lot to do with the meds I'm on..I decided to have the WLS about 1 year ago and have done what I am supposed to do so far. I have an appt for Jan 26th to see the surgeon.  I realize it's a major step toward getting my health back in check and I do believe it's right for me. I'm just so nervous!!

If you weren't nervous, I'd tell you to back away, lol.  Just keep reading - esp on here.  All of the stories of success will help calm your nerves, and get you all hyped up - hyped up about finally getting that weight off w/out all the dieting.  WLS is a lifestyle change, but one that is manageable, and one I will never regret!

Another thing you can do is to write down all your fears/questions, etc., for your appt.  Make sure you get all the answers you need, that will help you feel better too.

I waited abit over a year too. I had friends that have gone 2 years watching, and not ready. Realize we also are food addicts and for some it's hard to let go of past addictions.
Join a support group (you can find one in your area) and read and post here. We are all on this journey together! 
And we are all nervous with any MAJOR surgery.

Welcome to the Bama Board!!!!  It is nice to meet you.  As the others say, nervous is normal.  I was so wanting the surgery and it took three years to finally get approved, but when I was approved and the day for surgery came, I was very very nervous.  I would do it again in a heart beat.  I have a life now.  I love living.  I wish you all the best and hope to hear from you regarding your journey.
