I got up this morning and had to go to the courthouse and re-new My Drivers license , and turn papers in for my land taxes . I was coming home and I can never turn down a Boutique visit. I went in and looked around and was fixing to leave when Bart came in with what I thought was 2 fans. I asked him is that a fan he said no it's a air cleanser. I asked Myrtle how much she said five dollars I said I want it. Got home goggle it, a Whisper 510 . I was shocked mind you it's brand new . It originally cost 1800.00 The filters are replaced once a year, cost 59.00 the man told me that he just bought them new . Boy did I get a Bargain !! Just wanted to share my joy !!

Woohoo! What a bargain! My air purifier cost $800 and the filter, the last time I bought one, was about $70. Naturally, with my financial situation, the filter hasn't been changed in about 3 years. I wish I could find one with a new filter for $5! Dang!
I am ADDICTED to thrift stores, yard sales, Ebay, etc. I've always wanted to own a junk store. I used to do flea markets for years but now my arthritis makes it where I'm unable to even have a yard sale, although I did have one this summer with Sandy's help (thanks Sandy!)
If I just had a warehouse the size of a football field and could hold up to it, I would have SO much fun selling junk. I always say I'm not that smart about too many things, but I am an expert on JUNK! LOL I'd have half the football field full of books and the other half with junk...although I like to call it junque.
Oh well, enough blabbering about my addiction.
I went in a thrift store today and the lady running it asked me to go to McDonald's and get her some unsweet tea. This is how I am with thrift stores...I am there often enough for the employees to ask me to run errands. LOL Oh, but I had fun! Christmas ornaments, etc. were half price! I was going to go to Hobby Lobby to get some clear ornaments to fill with stuff, paint or decorate some way and lo and behold, I didn't have to...there was a whole set of 12 waiting there for me at the thrift store. Plus I got a big handfull of Mardi Gras beads! My great niece loves beads better than anything so I'm always buying them so she can dump them all out and play, play, play. She's 14 months old and so precious. It's so funny how she will be getting all fretful and whiney and I will pull out the box of beads and once she spies those beads, her eyes light up and she's pulling to get to them. Auntie Joni does something right! Yay!
Ok, enough about two of my top 10 loves, my great niece and thrift stores!
Happy New Year! May 2009 bring us all plenty of good will and bargains!
Love,
Joni

Joni, you don't have to buy the clear balls. Take colored balls and put them in a wide mouth gallon jug. Take the metal top off first. Pour bleach over them. Make sure they are fully immerged. Let sit for about 10-15 minutes and take out of bleach. Run warm water over them and all the color comes right off. One of the prettiest Christmas tree I've ever had was covered in clear glass balls and clear lights. I need to make me some more. I didn't even put up a tree this year. I have a bamnoo shoot thats about 3 feet tall. I put a Santa ornament on it and used it.
Take care. Love, Miss Mary

Thanks for the idea! I will try that if I ever have any colored balls and some bleach. Since these were 50¢ for a box of 12, I couldn't beat it! I don't think I have any colored balls on my tree. It's just all kinds of everything. I don't have room for even one more ornament on my tree! I'm just going to have to get another tree next time I see one at a yard sale. I like the fancy ones, so it may take some looking. I don't like the cheap ones. I saw a HOT PINK one at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago and I wanted it, but didn't really have the money and then it sold while I was there to someone for $1! $1! I would have bought it had I known it was going to go for so cheap.
Since I'm going to keep my Christmas decor up all year, I am sure to find lots of good stuff at summer yard sales when few people are thinking about Christmas!
Your bamboo Christmas tree sounds cute! I have 2-3 rosemary plants that I thought about putting Christmas lights on. I may do that later. I'll decorate anything! I'm making snowmen out of tube socks at the moment. I like to put on Christmas music and make Christmas crafts in the summertime. Heck, I like making Christmas crafts ALL the time.
Your idea reminded me of the first time I went to Ft. Myers Beach and I found SO many sand dollars. At the time I was so poor and I couldn't afford enough bleach to bleach them all. It takes a LOT of bleach to bleach out a sand dollar! I only have one left of that trip. Dang, I love the ocean.
Ok, enough of my musings...
Love you!
