Bad Dr.'s appointment
Hello Farmgirl. Yes, we are neighbors. Froggy Ellen Johnson's husband is from Butler. I don't know if you know any of his relatives or not.
I attended a support group in Mobile but it has been discontinued for a while. I know Mobile would be a bit far for you to go.
Dr. William Lightfoot was my Dr. I had open RNY in 2004. I am 4 1/2 years out.
My husband, Jimmy and I travel on weekends and sing and preach. We are going to be at Branch Church of God tonight in Silas. I hope we get to meet soon.
Debbie

Hello, good to hear from you, thank you for responding to my message. The support group in Mobile is up and going, it meets on the 2nd thursday of each month at the Infirmary Hosp. Just got a message from another person who attends it. Yes, it is a bit too far for me to travel during the work week, if I were retired, I could do it, but I get up at 4:30 and leave for work at 5:45 every morning, as I work in Meridian, and it takes me about 45 min. to get there. I would love to see a support group meet on a weekend. I am in touch with a couple of ladies who have been involved with a support group in Meridian, Ms, which disbanded, but they are trying to get it going again, if so, this will be perfect for me, being that I work in Meidian.
Would love to hear you and your husband sing...if I knew you were going to be in Silas, would have been there. If you are ever singing in Butler, please let me know, would like to be there.
Again, thank you for your support and encouragement. Farmgirl58

I feel much the same way you do...that it is VERY unprofessional for a M.D. to run behind all the time. Also, if the patient is running behind, oftentimes, we are asked to re-schedule our appointment or we are charged a fee. Patients are also charged fees for not letting M.D.s know of cancellations before 24 hours too...what if you had a true emergency? What if the M.D. has a true emergency? I have had MY physician to re-schedule appointments with me...and they didn't give me a notice before 24 hours and I wasn't able to charge them a fee? See my point.
If I have to wait 1/2 of my work day to see a physician...I certainly will reconsider whether I will see that particular M.D. again or not. I have actually STOPPED going to M.D.s because of this.
It costs ME too much $$$ and too much time to see that physician. It is too costly. I am important too...and I have things to do too.

That makes me so mad! I have a friend in Florida who will not wait over 15 minutes for a doctor's appt. I don't know how she ever gets in to see a doctor, but she says it is unprofessional and I agree.
I went to a doctor here and had to wait for almost 3 hours and I finally went up to the desk and asked if I needed to reschedule since they were running so far behind. The girl at the desk looked at me like I was stupid and said, "You've OBVIOUSLY never been to a SPECIALIST before." I said, "Excuse me? I have been going to SPECIALISTS for quite some time, but this is the first time I have been so one who has no idea how to schedule his patients." Anyway, she was not happy with me and I feel like they made me wait even longer because I had complained. It was one of my pre-WLS appts. or I would have walked right out of there. I can't even remember who it was at the moment. Life was SO overwhelmingly stressful while I was trying to get approved for the surgery and I went to SO many doctors. I know it was either Dr. Shergy or Dr. Morris in Florence though. I do remember the building and I do remember the RUDENESS.
I'm with Jackie. My time is important too and I try to schedule mine in a way that doesn't cause distress to others. I've heard of people who write letters of complaint to doctors, etc. who do things like that and tell them something like "I charge $15 an hour for my time and since you made me wait 3 hours, you owe me $45 plus $10 gasoline."
I had a doctor be exceedingly rude to me one time and I asked him, "Do I work for YOU or do YOU work for ME?" I mean, hello! If I hire a doctor and pay him/her the ungodly prices they charge, then he's working for ME. I mean, I hire him/her to provide a service and they require your co-pay up front and then they still bill you again afterwards, so dag nab it! I want service! I haven't received any service from any doctors so far, but I keep hoping to find one who's worth his hideous fees. I'm supposed to get some new insurance starting on the 1st so hopefully I can find someone who will help me get out of this horrendous pain.
Ok, enough whining. I just hate doctors. They're supposed to help people, not act like they are the gods of the universe.
Ok, deep breaths...calm down...get off your soap box....go lie down and think calming thoughts. New Year's Resolution: stay away from doctors...
