Controling Offensive material on this Board

According to Adlerian Psychology, the best way to handle bad behavior is to ignore it.  What excerbates the behavior is acknowledging it.  We are blessed with a block button to block those interlopers who seek to bring offensive material to our board that is not appropriate to WLS support.  My suggestion, and what I am personally doing, is to report the offensive material to get them removed from the board and then to block them so that you do not have to hear them whine.  So far, it has worked beautifully for me.  I suggest that other Alabama Board members follow the same course and we can stop these petty and not helpful interlopers.

When someone trys to get your goat, the best policy is to move your goat.

GOOD advice, plan on using the back & block button.  It is hard to argue with yourself.

I am here for support.  I live in Ga but my surgery was done in AL and all the weight loss people I know are on the AL board.

I was born with an internal block button.. it's called IGNORE. I dont know why some people feel the need to be offensive but apparenlty some do. I saw a particular post and wondered what was the driving force behind it. I found no humor in the post... I was not offended but it did seem to be very random. Why?

When someone is out to get your goat, I have to ask why? Do they not have a goat of their own?  Or does their goat no longer satisify them? Or is their goat so bad that they are trying to divert attention elsewhere so no one will notice their bad goat? If you are out to get someone else's please let me know. I know a goat farmer. I'm sure I can arrange for you to get one at a resonable price.

Personally, I dont have anyone blocked because even the most vile offenders are capable of posting the most helpful information. Therefore, I just take what I want and leave the rest.

Well...I will say that my block button has been busy AS OF LATE.  I hate that these people who lack social etiquette make it necessary.  This however is the world in which we live.

Blessings,

Hi Lisa.  I have blocked 6 so far.  I don't like what has been going on but I am very worried about how some of them are "making fun" of spiritual things.  I am afraid they are treading very close to the one sin without forgiveness.  That is a very serious thing.  I can ignore most things but this has gotten to me pretty bad.
How is Joe?  Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

HI DEBBIE!!!

Yes, I have around the same number blocked.  I'm really not sure why they feel the need to migrate to other boards with this stuff.  I pray for mercy upon their souls.  I remember as the Lord hung upon the cross..he prayed..."Father, forgive them, for they know NOT what they do"  Since they are not at all hungry for the truth and only interested in spewing vile corrupt statements then that is what I can do.  PRAY!

Joe is well right now.  He wasn't able to be in church this morning.  He was feeling too weak.  Jonathan stayed with him and monitored his vitals.  However he is up and dressing now to be in the evening service.  Since the last battle with pneumonia I have noticed a change in his physical vitality.  However, he is still his fun self and I love him more and more each day!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to the Two of You!

Lisa

"Etiquette is a code that influences the expectations and behaviour of social behavior, according to contemporary conventionalnorms within a society, social class, or group. Rules of etiquette are usually unwritten, but aspects of etiquette have been codified from time to time. A rule of etiquette may reflect an underlying ethical code, or it may reflect a fashion or status."

As you can see, according to Wikipedia, social etiquette is ever changing and evolving, as determined by different people.  It is not something that is static and applicable to all groups.
