Duodenal Switch

Hello everyone. My surgeon as of now is Dr. Pharam Mora of Prattville, AL. He is working with me on getting RNY. I really really like this man. Very nice and calming. I have been researching a lot lately, and I've decided to look a lot harder at the Duodenal Switch. Unfortunately Dr. Mora doesn't do the DS. Is there anyone in Alabama that does? Thanks!

Do you have BC/BS of AL?  Is it Federal Policy?  Bc/BS of AL will not cover the DS unless it is the Federal policy.  There is a fine DS surgeon, Dr. Smith in Atlanta that does laproscopic DS with a stellar record.  Dr. Facundus in Huntsville has started doing the dS, but IMO, he's not done enough of them to be past the learning curve and have sufficient experience.  The DS is a very intricate surgery to perform, and a surgeon needs to have HUNDREDS under their belt before they are truly practiced in the art of performing the DS surgery.

I went to Mexico and self-paid for my DS rather than having an RNY paid for locally by my insurance.  You can visit my profile for more info, or feel free to contact me.

Very few surgeons perform DS.  You need to look at the list on duodenalswitch.com   Also visit the DS forum here.   Many of the folks are very knowledgeable.

There is no listing for Alabama, so your closest choices may be GA or FL  People do travel to get this procedure, but given what is at stake and the long term results, it is worth it.

Peace,

William

To teach something is to have it.  To have something you must be it.   Teach peace, for that is what you are.
