Dumped

Up until today, the only thing I have found that I dump on is ice cream.  Well, the sweet potato casserole did me in.  And boy did it.  Whoah!  No more of that for me.  I only ate a very small portion but it proved to be too much sugar for me.  I feel absolutely horrible, but brought it upon myself.  Forget about dessert.  Skipped it.

Any onr else have any problem with their t-day meal?

Hi Sandi

Sorry you dumped. was it the casserole with the brown sugar and pecans? I did good today,i had just a small piece of ham and turnips, sweet potato souffle, peas, and a small spoonful of dumplings and dressing no bread or desert for me. and had the same for supper.

I'm feeling much better today.  No more sweet potato casserole for me!  It was really, really good but not worth dumping over.  Boy was I miserable last night.  Got sick and had to go to bed.  Didn't even eat any dessert.

I hope no one else had any dumping problems....live and learn.  Still learning my limits at 9 months out.

Someone posted a recipe a few days ago for Caramel Sweet Potatoes. I made those and Oh My gravy! they were wonderful. You sweeten them with Divinci S/F syrup (it has splenda in it). YUM!! They were good. Will be having some for dinner tonight. Tried a little left over turkey at lunch. Found out that wouldn't work....too dry!

For future reference, the Splenda Brown Sugar Blend is very good and you cannot tell the difference, and you are less likely to dump using it.  NOTICE THAT I SAID "LESS LIKELY." I don't know that there are any promises in using it over the real stuff, as we all vary in our tolerance to sugar.  However, I have gone exclusively to using Splenda Blend with everything.

Dressing tends to make me sick these days, so I have to really limit how much I eat of it.  I think it is the poultry seasoning that does it.  My tummy just cannot handle it.

However, this Thanksgiving went well as we switched to chicken rather than turkey, and cut back significantly on the spices.  I have also found that you can buy the dried cranberries, and soak them in water and boil them down to make an excellent whole cranberry "sauce" that has less sugar and just as much taste.

Unfortunatley I cannot tolerate Splenda...I gives me head spins.  Rare side effect. I think caused my the medications I take.
