If it's true.....  If it's not true then pleace accept my apology...

I got this email from a friend so IF it's true, be careful...

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that if you tend to give gift cards
around the holidays, you need to be careful that the cards will be
honored after the holidays. Stores that are planning to close after
the holidays are still selling the cards through the holidays even though
the cards will be worthless January 1. There is no law preventing them
from doing this. On the contrary, it is referred to as 'Bankrupcy
Planning). Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be
cautious about.

I also got this and wondered about it, I will probably be on the safe side and give cash to the ones that I would have given gift cards to.

I got this email yesterday also and checked it out on snopes.com.  They said it was a mix of accurate, inaccurate, and outdated information.  Some of these stores have filed chapter 11 but they are not closing.  Some have already closed. Read the full story at Snopes.

I think I am just not going to buy any gift cards this year to play it safe!

I'm going to stick with the VISA Gift Cards, they can be used any place VISA is accepted.
