Waffle House at 3:30 this morning
Well salad-shooter, you are my kinda girl! I absolutly LOVE the fact that you two got up at 3am and went to the Waffle House instead of just craving and wishing. That type of gusto is what's going to get you through this mess!! And BLESS LEO's heart for taking you! I'm so glad you're feeling good too. I continue to keep you in my prayers and stand in faith with you and others that 'this too shall pass"!
Oh, and thanks for the laugh from Peyton! Little ones are so precious!
I love ya beautiful lady!!

There's my buddy!! I have missed hearing from you Phyllis. I know that you are pretty busy with married life. I wish we could get together sometime. Leo and I don't really have anyone to buddy around with. At least we have each other.
I love you too!!!

Good to hear from you Loretta. You are still as beautiful as ever. I really don't consider myself brave. I'm just doing what I have to do. I make the most of the good days now and I'm so much more appreciative of them.
How are your kidney's doing? I think of you often and wonder if they have found any answers. Please let us know.

Debbie (and Leo too)
As you progress with the treatments you will find your eating habits get totally out of whack. You will sorta be like a PREGNANT woman
You might find yourself eating or drinking the ODDEST combinations.
Mama could not eat solid foods but would want her "special" drink. Debbie, she wanted Cappacino mix, hot coffee, protein powder (we put that in without her knowing
) and a scoop of chocolate Coffee Mate. Other times she wanted Ice Cream with coffee mate sprinkled over it.
Point is, eat what you can to get nutrition. Eat WHEN you can even if it is 3AM at the Waffle House. Mama's oncologist told us to let her eat anything she wanted (she was diabetic) and try to get protein in her so we got creative.
Do what you can to eat. It will make the treatments easier. Also during her actual infusions they kept a bottle of slightly frozen Sprite or Diet Sprite with her. It helped the nausea. Sometimes I would freeze (slushy stage) Crystal Lite for her and she loved it. Said it worked just as well with the nausea.
BOY did I write a novel

Oh Gwen, Lot's of info and I love it. The Cancer Center has been so good. They bring lots of ice out during chemo to help with the nausea as well as to help with not getting sores in your mouth. Unfortunately, I have about 5 small ulcers in my mouth now and that determines a lot of what I eat at the moment. Drinking seems to be the best way for me to get protein and nutrients for a little while. The foods I used to love have no attraction to me at the moment. I do like oatmeal and apple and grape juice. The doctor did tell us to eat whatever I wanted to and now Iunderstand why. It is because you have no appetite and then when you do your tastes have changed and you can't think of anything you really want. I think mom sent me a couple of small bottles of Ensuer or some type of drink like that last week. I could only tolerate a couple of sips.
Thank you so much for writing your book. I appreciate it so much.

Mama was on the Ensure program. She didn't like it "straight" so we would freeze it to slushy stage and add her different "flavor of the minute" to try to get some nutrition in her. It is play it by ear. Eat or drink what you can when you can. Cold and slushy or fairly warm worked best for her.
She had to take Neulasta after every cycle and only had to have 2 shots of Nupagen (I think I spelled that right).
Hang in there DebbieDoo and Leo too! It DOES get better.
