I need your encouragement feeling kinda Blue
Hi Everyone,
i went for all my pre testing on Tuesday and had an awful encounter with the antheislogist it seems as if my bp has decieded to go hay wire. I have never had a problem with my bp even though I'm over weight. the pa at the surgeon's offce told me not to worry and sent me back to My primary care doctor for a low dose medicine to get me throught the surgery which hopefully will be Wednesday. My diet for this week is Soup Salads and sandwiches and I'm already sick of it since I don't really care for Deli meat. I had a PBJ fror breakfast . This really worries me if i'm struggling staying with this how am I going to Monday and Tuesday liguids only and the big question will I make it once I'm banded.
It's not uncommon to doubt yourself. After all, how many "diets" have you failed up to now? You do need to work extra hard on your pre-op diet because it's important to shrink your liver in order to make your surgery safer. Having said all that, I wasn't perfect on my pre-op diet. The best advise I can give you is stock up on all the stuff that you CAN have and always have someone on hand that is allowable to eat. I still have to do this even after my surgery. The best advise I got was to stay prepared foodwise. Always have a plan and have something handy to eat/drink so you don't get caught without and make a bad decision. I have a drawer that I keep protein bars in and I keep plenty of protein drinks in the fridge here at work and at home (amazingly...someone at work is actually taking my protein drinks....can't imagine why? LOL). Just remember, you CAN do this. After surgery it will be easier because you won't tend to get as hungry as you do now. And it gets easier with time even as you are able to add more foods back into your diet. Since you are getting banded, you won't be as limited as those with the Bypass. Just do your personal best, that's all anyone can ask.

First, I'll keep you in my prayers that your blood pressure stabalizes and your surgery takes place without any problems. Second, TWO days of liquid diet is a cinch! I did 2 1/2 weeks pre-op. I'm not going to say I was perfect, I did cheat, chewed 3 green beans and spit them out, chewed 6 Cheerios and spit them out. My advice is "KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE"!

Of course you will make it!! The last week pre-surgery is the hardest; we all can attest to that. Tho I am not a bander, we do share the same terrific surgeon! Don't stress about the BP - it's probably stress that caused it to go haywire. Here are some suggestions for food:
*Don't feel bad if you don't stick entirely to the SSS menu this week - however, it is totally necessary that you stay on liquids only Monday & Tuesday. Try picking up some soup from your local chinese restaurant. It tastes MUCH better than anything canned, and even when you go on clear liquids next week, you can strain it w/some cheesecloth. (That also works well if you are on liquids only post surgery.)
*Keep SF popsicles on hand - I bet I ate dozens of them!
*Also try protein drinks - they help fill you up and keep you from feeling so starved. Either SlimFast or Atkins EAS. I even mixed the powder in my coffee as creamer.
You can do this - keep us posted!
(edited to add)---I just realized your username - warrrrrrrrr eagle to ya!
