How do you all remember

The only way I can remember is to hang a chart on my fridge. I put a check mark by the pill when it is taken. By the end of the day I am usually successful in taking my gobs of medications and vitamins.

Gail I really like your idea. I am going to try this along with the pill container. Between the 2, hopefull I will get them in everday. My problem is when we go out of town I just don't think to take them. I take all the bottles with me and they are out in front of me but I always think well I will get it later and later turns into tomorrow. I can take the chart and the container with me. Thanks for the help.

i don't know if it will be helpful, but this is my routine: between 9-9:30 a.m. - 2 multivitamins (bitten into pieces-sam's club brand-400 for $12.53) around 2 p.m. - 2 calcium +D pills (also bitten into pieces-sam's club brand-can't remember price, but MUCH more reasonable than citracal) between 3-3:30 p.m. - 2 HSN vits from GNC & 1 250 mg magnesium (all bitten in half) either 5:30 or 8 p.m. - 2 more calcium + D pills (bitten into pieces) 1 x a month, i give myself a b-12 shot-i'm feeling sorta run down, so maybe i need more? i hope this helps you in some way, louise Hugs, Donya

OK Ladies new on the AL forum.  GA forum is boring... Im Pre OP and gathering INFO.  I was born bread and lived in AL most of my life so I figure I belong here.  Well again I am gathering info and I was sooo looking forward to getting rid of the pills... B/P, Diebeties ect but looks like that is not gonna happen.  Can you tell me how many different kinds of pills you have to take after surgery.  I was told only vitimines.  Please fill me in!  All INPUT is welcome!!  Also was wondering about different types of protiens.  How often take and what is best.  Thanks a ton!  Ginger

Welcome Ginger! What part of AL are you from? My sister lived in Kennesaw but many of her friends, lived in Woodstock GA.

I just take my routine vitamins and supplements. Im off all BP meds for 3 years now, meds for GERD for 3 years now but I do have to take meds for depression/anxiety/sleep, which was NOT part of my WLS, just discovered post truamatic stress syndrome, which do help alot. My friend who was insulin dependant, came home from the hospital off her insulin and she has not had to go back on any diabetic meds since her surgery, if that helps.

Im a picky picky protein person but I love all the Matrix 5.0 proteins and Unjury. I mix one packet of the new South Beach  Living ,  Tropical Breeze water additive with either my Orange Cream Matrix or my Vanilla Unjury ( I never liked vanilla anything) and its so good, I easily drink 3 or 4 a day, if I had too. I really like the South Beach Tropical Breeze water additive over Crystal Light, or SF koolaid , even in plain water and it has 3 grams of protein in it too.

LOL  I'll be trying some out in advance.  Thanks for the response.  Ginger

Ginger I am the opposite of you. I am born, and raised in Southeast Ga, a little town called Waycross and moved to Ala in 1991. I am almost 5 years out and still take my B/P meds. My B/P as of now is very unstable. One day it is high and the next normal. Not ever one is able to get off the meds. After surgery a lot of doctors will have you take a vitamin, calcium and B12. I have done the B12 injections from day one. I do have a problem with swallowing the big pills such as the calcium. Hope some of this will help you.

hi ginger :)  i was one of the lucky ones-even though i weighed 374.5 before surgery, i wasn't on any medications, and i'm still not, aside from my vitamins.  the hair, skin & nail are just to keep my hair growing well b/c it's STILL falling out by the handful (luckily i have always had enough hair for 3 ppl) even at 4 years postop and the magnesium is just to counteract the constipating effects of the calcium.  i get all my protein from food-turkey, chicken, lean beef (no less than 90% lean) and  pb (naturally more w/ flax seeds and flax seed oil).  when i drank protein shakes, i used elite whey chocolate blended w/ 6 oz hood calorie countdown milk and 7 ice cubes.  i stopped using it b/c it just plain became too expensive.  i hope you like it here :)  welcome! Donya
