I had heard this somewhere I think on OH can't remember I have talked to sooo many people about the air force and coast guard..things got a little mixed lol! Anyhow I thought one lady who was trying to help me understand things better had said that the air force was downsizing and not really taking people. Can anyone else agree with that? Usually if more than one person tells me the same thing I drop it and assume it's true lol. ~Tema

I honestly don't have an answer for you, but I do know that several bases are closing.

I have a friend who works contract in the USAF Finance Department and she told me that they are not taking any new recruits until sometime next year. I would, however, confirm this with an Air Force Recruiter before taking anyone else's word for it. Things change constantly in the military. I am a now retired USAF wife and if I can offer any suggestions, comments, opinions, advice, please ask me. Karla

Although the Air Force is downsizing its current force, they are still taking new recruits. I'm a 20-year active duty spouse and AF civilian employee - hope this helps.
