Hello fellow AF members, I am having Lap RNY done on 13 April down in Los Angeles, and everything has worked out wonderful, I am so looking forward to having this surgery, I was supposed to have it on 17 Nov 04 but my hubby received orders to VAFB, so I had to start all over. The base here doesn\\\'t do the any medical procedures everything is referred out to other town doctors. I have to drive 3 hours to my appointments but it well worth my time to become a healthier person. If you have any question about my journey to get here, insurance wise, surgeon choice, just ask. Good Luck to everyone in becoming LOSERS Teresa Thomas VAFB

I wish you all the best on your surgery in 2 days....woohoo...the day is almost here! YOu will be a fellow 'LOSER' before you know it. We are stationed at Charleston AFB, SC and I had my surgery 11mo ago. I went from 265 size 33/34 down to 154.5 size 8/10 so far and I am 5'3. My goal is 135 and I was just approved for a tummy tuck.hernia repair & scar revision soon. This has been the best decision...I would do it again in a heartbeat. Take care, Julie S.

Good luck tomorrow! I'm 4 weeks out and 24 lbs lighter because of Lap RYN! I would do it again tomorrow!

Teresa, I know how you feel about the traveling. We are stationed at Eielson AFB, Alaska (that's near Fairbanks). Currently, they only do the surgery in Anchorage. Anchorage is a 6-7 hour drive or about an hour plane ride. The bad thing is if you have a morning appointment, you have to catch the early morning flight at 6am (oh yeah and it's about a 35 minute drive to the airport - makes for a long, tiring day). I'm hoping to become a loser soon. We just submitted to Tricare last Friday - hoping to hear something in the next few days. If approved, I'm looking at a mid-June surgery date. Maria Eielson AFB, AK

Hello Maria, I think it stinks that we have to travel so far, but at least if you keep your receipts "Benefits" will give you travel orders in which you can be repaid for hotel, gas and maybe even airplane tickets, here is my normal email address if you'd like to keep in contact: [email protected] I am very happy I have done this, I have lost 25lbs in 4weeks, I don't see it, but others have told me they do, I just hope I can lose as much as I want too, I have read good and not so good. I will say this that Tricare is one of the FASTEST to respond for approval I had mine with in a week. And thats good from what I have heard. I would really like to talk more about this with you email me okay.

Teresa, We were stationed in Vandenberg from 2001 to 2004. That is where I actually made my decision to have surgery. We are now down at Los Angeles AFB so I didn't have to deal with all the commuting. I had surgery last August. I checked out your profile and it seems you are doing great!! Keep it up! Christie
