Topic: Last Chance for OH Magazine Savings!
Just a friendly reminder that today and tomorrow are the last two days of OH Magazine's special promotional subscription price of just $20 for one year (six issues). The price will go back to our regular 2005 price of $25 for one year (six issues) on October 1. So, if you have been dragging your feet, now is the time to start running!

I also want to thank the hundreds of people who have already subscribed this month! We are thrilled to have your support and hope that you will thoroughly enjoy every issue of this revamped version of the magazine many of you have loved for years! :-D

Thanks especially to those of you who have shared such great comments about the magazine as part of the ongoing "Plan C" contest (www.oh-magazine.com/contest.php)... here are a few of the amazing comments:

"This magazine saved my life. Had I not found it I would never have had the courage to find a surgeon in my area and make a consultation. I am a year and a half post-op. I have lost 158 lbs. I feel terrific, and OH
helped me."

Gail, New York

"Thank you, Thank you. A delightful magazine. Very upbeat. I believe
your magazine saves lives."

Avalon, California

"I just stumbled upon the magazine, and to find the September issue
covering topics that I am currently struggling with was amazing. It was
like you were reading my mind. Your magazine could not have come at a
better time."

Amy, Iowa

We are so humbled and glad to know that we are touching lives. And, as always, we are glad to hear from readers--whether you have something good or bad to say. Feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions or comments! It may take me a while since I get an awful lot of e-mail, but I make a point of responding to every e-mail I get: [email protected]

Topic: Thank you from Trinity Bariatric
For all of you who kindly responded to the Katrina victims need for clothing by sending clothes to Trinity Bariatric in Illinois, the center wants to give you a big thank you. The center received over 2500 pounds of clothing!! This is a huge amount and as you can imagine they are out of storage room. They truly apprciate all the help OH has given to them but now ask that we stop sending them clothes. If you still have clothes you want to donate, please contact me at [email protected] and we will tell you where the best place would be to send them. Thank you all for your show of support when your neighbors are in need.

Hi!

For those of you have been wondering about the name change to ObesityHelp Magazine... wonder no longer! OH Magazine is here, and with it comes more fun and information than ever!

We invite you become acquainted with our new and improved publication by checking out www.oh-magazine.com! While you are there, look around a bit and get to know our re-designed website. Check out our great new features like free-for-download web-exclusive articles.

Be sure to click on the "Contests and Fun" link. The current contest features the practical and enlightening new book Plan C: The Medical Reimbursement Plan, by Certified Tax Preparer and WLS patient Sandra Lynch. I have the prize copies sitting by my desk as I type, and I can tell you that this book will be an extremely valuable addition to anyone's library who would like to have some of the mystery taken out of US tax code! As someone seeking treatment for a medical condition, obesity, you may be eligible for tax reductions you did not know about. However, the book will be especially helpful if you have to pay (or had to pay) for your WLS or reconstructive surgery out-of-pocket because you don't have insurance coverage. Don't miss your chance to win a copy.

You don't have to be a subscriber to enter and win the contest, so click on through and enter whether you are a current subscriber or not!

If you have been considering subscribing but have been putting it off, now is the time to act, because between now and the end of September you can get a special subscription rate of $20 for 6 issues.

We would love to hear from you about the new look and the new name and about the magazine contents. Don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] with any questions or comments you may have!

Topic: Katrina-What do the children need?
HI everyone!! I am going to be attending a meeting with my son and the meeting is about a project to help the children of Katrina that have lost everything and will not be able to attend school for quite a while. Can anyone please give me some ideas as to what these children may need, besides the obvious things? I want to bring some good quality ideas to the table, something that will really benefit the children there. Also can anyone give me some good, fun, creative ways that 5th and 6th graders can raise money for the cause too? Thank you all in advance for all of the suggestions and I hope that in our small way here, we can help out abundantly!! Thank you all, Allie from Texas

Topic: Operation Katrina
Hello All

We've all been watching and praying for the people along the Gulf coast, now ObesityHelp is swinging into action to see how we can help people who have been affected by the devastation. As all of you know very well, PostOps have special nutrition needs and require follow up by a knowledgeable surgeon. We are putting together a team of people to coordinate getting special supplies, the kind of thing you wouldn't expect from the Red Cross or Salvation Army, to bariatric patients who need the assistance. We've been on the phone with OH Volunteers in the area and we're working to identify who there can help us. We know you've all been coordinating through the message boards, even when you have to relay by phone to post something, so we would like to offer help.

We are already contacting surgeons and vendors we are affiliated with to get them to help. We need to know who needs help, where they are, and what help they need. To that end, please post to the board, or have someone post for you:

Who you are
Where you are presently located
How we can contact you
What sort of assistance you need

If you want to send us some personal information, please send it to [email protected] and we'll do our best to help.

Until we can figure out the answers to these questions as well as a whole bunch more (where can supplies be delivered, where will surgeons be who can help, where can you go for additional assistance, and more) we can do very little. We also need your help in locating people who may not be able to get online or on a phone, people who may be having trouble and can't communicate to call for assistance. Starting from those of you networking with us, we hope to help identify others who may need help as well.

In this time of great disaster, we all want to help. If you're not in the affected area, but can help in other ways, please drop a note to [email protected] to let us know who you are, how to contact you, and what help you can offer.

Our best wishes go out to all of you affected by this great tragedy.
