Cmon WYoming!
Dottie,
I am in Green River...so we're in opposite corners of the state. We go through Gillette every year when we visit my relatives in South Dakota. It sure has grown over the years!!
I am originally from Hanna (born and raised)...lol if you can believe that...not much there anymore.
Anyway it's nice to meet you :)

I new to the site and am having a very confusing time trying to decide between 2 doctors! I'm in Pinedale, so Jackson would be the best option. But because of Dr. Balliro costs I'm not sure if I can afford to go. My insurance has denied my twice, so I would have to be self pay. There is also a Dr in Auroa Co, his costs are under 10,000, because he doesn't go through insurance. I'm torn. my parents are in Cheyenne and it's an hour and half drive to auroa, and 6 hours from here to Cheyenne. and with the cost of gas, and hotels, and food, would it be as much as Balliro? I don't know what to do! If anyone was self pay with Balliro, could you give me an idea of what the cost would be? Also does he do the fills? I know I should just call Juilana, but i want to talk to people who have been through this before! If anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I was a self pay patient of Dr. Balliro. I had lap RNY in March 2008. His bill was a flat $8,000 for surgery and follow-ups. I dont have to have fills so I'm not sure if that would be more. The hospital was $32,000 (stayed Thursday thru Saturday). The anesthesiologist was $1,600. The hospital has a motel near-by that charges $40/night for patient's family.
The one thing I recommend is that you ask the hospital for a flat fee for the typical stay without complications. St Johns was reluctant to put anything in writing, but it helped to have a base line number.
Good luck on your journey!!

Hey there everyone!!...Great seeing more Wyomingites .
I mentioned earlier about a support group in RS. I went over with my daughter....we found the room that it was to be held in. The lights were all on...there were refreshments (chilled water etc. on the table)...the door had a sign on it for the time and place. We waited 30 minutes before we agreed to leave....Last week she called the hospital to see if anyone knew anything. The dietitian said she had been referring clients but didn't know who is in charge....
Have a good week everyone!!

Hey, here's another one from Wyoming, Sheridan to be exact! I can't believe I finally found a forum group for WLS! I had the gastric bypass surgery in Riverton on the 24th of October. So far I have lost 21.6 pounds and already have gained lots of energy!
I'm not too good at this posting stuff, but when I get it figured out I will submit a photo and bio.
