Hi everyone, Well, I don't know who to thank the most for my world turning upside down, Medicare or my doctor's office... before I mentioned that my paper work had been sent into my ins., well I got a call this morning from the doctors office. They informed me that medicare and medicad both require that who ever's doing the surgery to be CERTIFIED! and medicare won't pay because they are CERTIFIED! Ok I guess I don't know much about this to start with, but, I mean come on... first of all, how can you even be doing these surgeries and not be certified??? and secondly... it's been almost 8 friggen months since I started this whole venture... with testings, clearances and 6 months of medically supervised classes and just now they know that this is an issue??? I would think that someone at the doctors should've known this looooong before now.   So here I am, having everything done and ready to go... and no where to go... friggen pissed is what I am at this point, to say the least. So I am faced with two choices;   A. I try and find and get connected with a doctor/facility that is certified,   B. Wait, who knows 2, 3, or 4 months for them to get there asses certified.   I just don't know, I mean I worked hard and long to get to this point, with the emotions of it all, anxious, nervous at same time, but I am ready for it. I want it, I don't think I should or even want to wait them out... but, where I am located.. I can't afford to travel great distances to get this done and follow up care.. where I was going through is like 20 miles and I was dealing with that ok.   Your thoughts or any help with where I can go would be appreciated Rob

Topic: thinking about weight loss surgery

better really think about it. I am a ex husband of a wife that had surgery back in 2006. I believe in my heart that most people or alot of people that go and have this surgery do so because they think it is a magic bullett. Well its not!! My own personal opinion is there is more negative about it than there is positive. There is so much that the family of a candidate for this surgery is NOT told. Noone ever told me there is a 75%divorce rate. No one ever told me that my wife would trade her food addiction for an alcohol addiction that years later turned into a pill addiction and most of all noone ever told me that is she didnt stop smoking she stood a significant chance of getting bleeding ulcers in her digestive tract. Well she has and the first time she bled out, they transfused 6 units of blood. She of course should have died.  Did she lose weight. Yes! 100+ pounds and I can almost hear a collective gasp! see wow isnt that wonderful?? there is an up side to health issues that may have been avoided, but now said ex wife is facing four felonies for bad judgment that she used. One thing to note here. I was married to this woman for 16 years. She NEVER had a problem with alcohol the whole time were together. someone from the outside looking in would have probably said probably that I myself was going to be the one with a problem. Luckily that hasnt been the case. Within the first year of having gastric bypass. Her body processed alcohol differently. She now gets sloshed on very little. she has no tolerence now at all. Before writing this I had just gotten off the phone with her. She said that over the past 7 years or so everthing bad that has happened to her, she feels the root cause is gastric bypass surgery. Its possible that is she wouldnt have had this surgery she and I would have worked thru our differences and maybe still be together. Too late for that now. I'm raising her biological grandson because her life has been such a mess since 2006. He's doing great and is on the B honor role.

Topic: Suggestions on 3 month documented exercise

I am trying to have a revision surgery from the band, & my insurance requires a 3 month documented exercise of working out at least 3 times a week.  Can anyone recommend what they did if they had to do this.  Do not have a lot of money to spend at the gym or curves, but will do whatever I have to do...Thanks!

2013:  20 Funny New Year's Resolutions

When it comes to New Year's resolutions, our family members and friends can get quite creative and even funny with what they resolve to do in the New Year.  Here a few good ones I have heard along the way...Oh, and a few of my own!

1.  I resolve to stop procrastinating about procrastinating!

2.  I will stop sending Facebook messages and emails to my loved ones when they are in the same room as I am!

3.  I will use my treadmill for something other than a place to hang my jacket.

4.  I will not sit at the kitchen table in my PJ's all day.  Instead, I will move my computer to my bedroom.

5.  I vow to never take a laxative and a sleeping pill on the same night!
