Topic: RE: Protein shakes anyone?
Hi Tonia,
I ordered my protein shakes from vitalady.com. I actually ordered the a sample pack. I can't say which are good because I am still on clear liquids right now. Good luck on your search.

Topic: Protein shakes anyone?
My WLS is 9/6/05 and I would like to know which protein shakes are the best and where might I get them from?
Topic: RE: I'm BACK
How are things today? Any better?
I have found that sleeping in a recliner/La-Z-boy works well for me when I need it.
How's the pain? Easing up? Did you call your surgeon?
I know I'm full of questions, but I'm wanting to find out how you are!

Topic: Update on Wisconsin Bill
I wanted to thank everyone who called, emailed, and faxed Governor Doyle's office. Our efforts have paid off.
I got this update this morning from Dr. Garren.
"Success!
Governor Doyle has vetoed the bill eliminating Bariatric Surgery
Coverage from Wisconsin Medicaid!"
Please call and thank the Governor!
We did it!
608-266-1212 (Gov Doyle's Office)
We are trying to find more details about the veto and will let you know when we find out.
Thanks members

Topic: Helping Hand
Today I learned a lot about what ObesityHelp is doing by speaking with Dr
Ganz, who is on OH staff, doing events and chapters around the country. I think all of us who have ever had our lives impacted by the support and help by ObesityHelp should send in a donation to them to help with all the efforts they have always been making and continue to make, including a big push on advocacy for us presently.
I am very passionate that we all should give them a hand -- Please join me and look here to donate:
http://www.obesityhelpstore.com/products_Sponsorships.htm
One good way is to mail a donation to
ObesityHelp, Inc.
ATTN: Jim Klein, CFO
8001 Irvine Center Drive
Suite 1270
Irvine, CA 92618
Dr Ganz told me that they are sending a free copy of their ObesityHelp
Magazine to donors for the next month.
They haven't announced anything, but, as usual, are simply quietly sending the magazine to donors whenever they receive a donation.
Let's help them as they have helped us for so long.

Good Luck!!! Thoughts and prayers are with you. I thought I would miss "food" but I don't. I had the same feelings....nervous but excited...
After the first week, you will be amazed at how you feel...and your energy level. good luck, again....and take it easy. Don't try to over do.
I go for my 6 month check-up today. It has gone by fast. And it will be same for you. I laugh now why I was so nervous.

Leann,
Glad your surgery went well. I had a "pain ball" inserted so I didn't have much pain. If you are in pain and medicine not helping, call your surgeon. The first pain medicine they gave me, made me sick so he had to change it. I did not sleep flat. We made an incline for me to lay back on. Needless to say I did not sleep sound but was able to rest without pain in back or stomach.
Is there anyone at home to help you? I got a shower the second day after surgery. And yes.....it felt so good but my husband had to help me. I guess I needed help in the shower for the first week.
Just remember....don't rush things. Everyone reacts and heals differently. Listen to your body....and call your surgeon if need be.
I hate you had a less than best hospital stay. I was in CMAC Women's and Children's and was treated like a queen. I have never had such great service from a nursing staff. I would let your surgeon know.
I go for my 6-month checkup today. I am excited about that.
Keep us posted....and take it easy! but keep walking.

Hang in there, it will be over before you know it and you will be a new woman. You're in my prayers. God bless, Marlene

Hi Kathy,
Good luck with the next 4 days, they are going to be emotional. I remember the night before surgery, we stayed at the Hampton Inn right beside Magee's, I just layed there and cried in my husbands arms. Goodluck with the bowel prep and make sure you swallow that metronidazole because if not it is nasty tasting. I have to call Dr. Hamad's office tomorrow I am having some pain at my drain site. It just might have to come out early. Keep in touch and you are in my prayers.
