Donna I had WLS at Ruby Dr McNatt 16 months ago. I am doing good and the hospital treated me so very well. Dr McNatt is a good surgeon and Mary Ann is still very helpful to me. Support meetings are a great help and I hope to see you at the next meeting. Oct 19 6pm

Mary and I have not had the surgery yet. Curt is scheduled for the day after your seminar and Dr. McNatt is his surgeon. Mary is scheduled for Dec 9th, We cannot say enough about the way we have been treated by everyone at WVU hospital and the bariatric staff. The only problem we experienced involved the state PEIA insurance. We solved that by dropping PEIA and going exclusively with our military insurance and it has been smooth sailing. At your seminar pay attention to what they have to say. They mean every word of it. If you follow their lead, it will be a very simple process. It will be time consuming as you get all of your appointments and testing done. You have two hurdles to this surgery. One is that your surgeon must be convinced the surgery is right for you. The other is of course convincing your insurance company and the the hospital will assist with that. Mary Anne Yanosik is absolutley phenomenal of keep everything running smoothly. If you can get your insurance and doctor on board and you follow what you are told to do, this will work. E-mail us with any questions you may have.

Topic: Beckley WLS Support Grp Mtg 10/25
Hi Everyone! I wanted to send out an early reminder that our meeting is on TUESDAY this month. This is the only month with a TUESDAY meeting. The Beckley WLS Support Group meeting will be held on TUESDAY, October 25, from 7:00-9:00pm at Raleigh General Hospital on Harper Road, Beckley. Our meeting location is in the Education Center (annex building on the Kroger side of RGH). Entrance is at the top of the wheelchair ramp. Guests are welcome and everyone is encouraged to attend! Things have been really quiet online, so if you haven't posted a message yet, now's the time! A Yahoo Group just for the Beckley WLS Support Group is online! Now you can talk to a fellow support group member anytime! Let's get our online group going by posting a message today! http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/beckleywlssg/ (If you don't already have a Yahoo ID, getting one is easy and FREE!) CLOTHING EXCHANGE: We will now have a clothing exchange at each meeting! You are welcome to bring any clothes that no longer fit you and take home some that do. As you lose out of them, bring them back and exchange them for others! You do not have to bring clothing to take clothing, and bringing clothing is not required. Restaurant cards for Dr. Shin and Dr. Stickler's patients, as well as other surgeons will be available for anyone who needs one. There will be a door-prize drawing for anyone attending who has had weight-loss surgery. Don't forget to bring a recipe (or two...or three) for our online group cookbook (or you can email them to us), a "before" picture (if you have one), or even bring some "before" clothes! I am going to the seminar in Morgantown on the October 18th. I have been trying to get insurance that would cover WLS since 1999 and this is the closest I've come so far. Wish me luck!

Okay here we go again. I have 6 months of Dr supervised weight loss on paper now. Do you think that I may have a chance with medicaid paying for this or should I go on with the BCBS?

Topic: Day 8 of 14 Day Presurgery Diet
I must say that this has been far eaier than I thought it would be. I think that knowing that surgery is almost here. The only real nurishment I have had are five Carnation Instant Breakfasts a day for 8 days. I have dropped almost 20 pounds in a week. I was shocked when I got on the scales last night. Those of you dreading the thought of the presurgery diet, do not let it overwhelm you. Stay as busy as possible during that time so that your mind is not obsessing about food.

Topic: Day 6 of 14 Day Presurgery Diet
Curt is starting to cluck and moo from all of the broth and the Carnation Instant Breakfast over the past six days. I never realized how great a sugar-free popsickle could taste. This has been tough but not as tough as I thought it would be. Time seems to move very slowly as the date approaches. I am ready to do it tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself.
