Topic: 5 months out
RNY 6-6-6 Almost 6 months out now and lost 73 lbs. Nothing is making me sick, sometimes dairy (mainly mixing milk with proteins) makes me feel a little sick just for about 30 minutes. I am at a plateau now it seems. The last 3 weeks I've only lost 1 lb a week. I'm worred because all foods seem to settle good with me, not that I want to be sick but afraid I will eat too much of the wrong foods, too many carbs. I wonder if this is normal for this time frame. I hope my slower weight loss isn't due to my diet. I try to monitor my foods, counting carbs etc as much as possible. I do still eat small amounts which I am glad. I feel so much better already, so glad I decided to go thru with the surgery. Thanks again Dr. Stickler, Charleston WV.

Topic: RE: Medicaid
Hey there, medicaid is tough. You have to have your BMI of over 40 and several co-morbidities. You have to have at least 6 months supervised weight loss program with your PCP. That means do not miss one month weighing in and you have to say you are exercising at least 3 times a week make sure your Dr. writes down your weight and exercise every visit. If you dont have Sleep apnea you'll have to have a sleep study done. They say you have to be diabetic and or use a walker but I dont have either of those. It has been a long haul but I am almost there!!! Good luck and feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions!!

Hi Everyone! This month, we're having a PROTEIN TASTING PARTY! The Beckley WLS Support Group meeting will be held on MONDAY, November 13, from 7:00-9:00pm at Raleigh General Hospital on Harper Road, Beckley. Our meeting location is in the Education Center (annex building on the Kroger side of RGH). Entrance is at the top of the wheelchair ramp. Guests are welcome and everyone is encouraged to attend! This month: PROTEIN TASTING PARTY! Want to try a new protein supplement? Have some protein powder you didn't like, but don't want to throw away? Or just have a great protein supplement you would like everyone to try? Bring it to our protein tasting party in November. Cups & water will be provided and Debbie S. is bringing her "Magic Bullet" mixer. If you need anything else to mix your particular sample, please bring it along. If you don't have any to share, don't worry! If you have been to any of our parties of any kind, you know there is always plenty...so come anyway! We will discuss our Christmas Party in December. The turnout in 2005 was wonderful. If you don't attend any other meetings during the year, please plan to come in December and catch-up with everyone! CLOTHING EXCHANGE: We will now have a clothing exchange at each meeting! You are welcome to bring any clothes that no longer fit you and take home some that do. As you lose out of them, bring them back and exchange them for others! You do not have to bring clothing to take clothing, and bringing clothing is not required. Restaurant cards for Dr. Shin and Dr. Stickler's patients (as well as some other area doctors) will be available for anyone who needs one. Don't forget to bring a recipe (or two...or three) for our online group cookbook (or you can email them to us), a "before" picture (if you have one), or even bring some "before" clothes! You can view our monthly calendar by visiting our support group website at http://www.geocities.com/beckleywlssg/ The 2006 meeting dates are also listed below. Looking forward to seeing you Monday! Beth ------------------------------ 2006 Beckley WLS Support Group meeting dates (all Monday meetings): November 13, 2006 December 18, 2006 If Raleigh County Schools are cancelled due to weather the day of our meeting or the following day, the meeting is cancelled also.) ------------------------------ If you would like to receive an email-reminder for the Beckley WLS Support Group Meeting, please email us at [email protected].

Hi Allison, sounds like you're wait is almost over. I understand your anxiety!! I had surgery on September 13, 2006 in Huntington and am doing very well! This is a great place to make the time go faster. I love to read the posts, recent and older, just to learn what I can from all those that are 'further' down the road. There is a lot of information here, and a lot of very informed, supportive people. Hang in there and you're time will be here soon. I wish you the best!!!

Topic: RE: Anyone else been on the 3 month liquid diet for Dr. Goldman?
You might try some sugar free Carnation Instant breakfast packets. I ordered them online but sometimes you can find them in Wal-Mart stores. Makes milk a littl easier to drink. I loved on sugar free popsicles for several weeks post-op and still do! LOL. Hope this helps.
