Hello! I'm working to form a support group in central West Virginia for folks who have had or are exploring weight loss surgery/gastric bypass surgery. If you are interested in more info, could possibly help, or know someone who may be interested, please email me at [email protected] so we can chat! Thanks, Lea Burnside

Good luck Thursday. I hope you have an uneventful surgery. I had mine 9-19 in Charleston. I won't say it is easy, but you should do well. Just listen to the doctors and follow their instructions. Remeber, water and protein. Peg M

Hi Everyone! If you only attend one meeting each year, make sure it's in December! This month, we're having our annual CHRISTMAS PARTY! The Beckley WLS Support Group meeting will be held on MONDAY, December 18, from 7:00-9:00pm at Raleigh General Hospital on Harper Road, Beckley. Our meeting location is in the Education Center (annex building on the Kroger side of RGH). Entrance is at the top of the wheelchair ramp. Guests are welcome and everyone is encouraged to attend! This month: CHRISTMAS PARTY! Everyone attends for a night of fellowship with friends, old and new. Bring along your spouse or significant other. Everyone is asked to bring a dish (appetizer, finger food, casserole, dessert, etc.). We'll have plates, cutlery and napkins. If your dish requires any extras (such as chips for dip, crackers for cheese, etc), please bring it along. If you don't have time to cook or don't remember, don't worry! If you have been to any of our parties of any kind, you know there is always plenty...so come anyway! The turnout in 2005 was wonderful. We hope to see lots of familiar faces! CLOTHING EXCHANGE: We will now have a clothing exchange at each meeting! You are welcome to bring any clothes that no longer fit you and take home some that do. As you lose out of them, bring them back and exchange them for others! You do not have to bring clothing to take clothing, and bringing clothing is not required. Restaurant cards for Dr. Shin and Dr. Stickler's patients (as well as some other area doctors) will be available for anyone who needs one. Don't forget to bring a recipe (or two...or three) for our online group cookbook (or you can email them to us), a "before" picture (if you have one), or even bring some "before" clothes! You can view our monthly calendar by visiting our support group website at http://www.geocities.com/beckleywlssg/ The 2006 meeting dates are also listed below. Looking forward to seeing you Monday! Beth ------------------------------ 2006 Beckley WLS Support Group meeting dates (all Monday meetings): December 18, 2006 If Raleigh County Schools are cancelled due to weather the day of our meeting or the following day, the meeting is cancelled also.) ------------------------------ If you would like to receive an email-reminder for the Beckley WLS Support Group Meeting, please email us at [email protected].

I too check in here everyday. It is good to see people in our great state. I'm just starting out on this journey. I will be going to my seminar on Thursday. I was supposed to go last week but snow kept us at home. Fortunately the forecast is looking good for this week, the next seminar won't be until February if I can't make this one. I will be traveling to Huntington for my WLS and that is about a 4 hour drive for me. I have 5 very active daughters and want to be involved with all they do without worrying about embarrassing them. Keep us updated. I know there are others who are lurking around on this forum. Lets get to know each other. Michelle

I check in here every day and it is good to see people posting. I guess I shouldn't talk because I lurk here, so I have decided to jump right in. I will be having my Lap-Rny Thursday the 14 th at King's Daughters in Ashland, KY. I had my gall bladder out this past Thursday the 7 th. I am ready to be get this show on the road and start dropping weight. So what do you all like to do out there? I have a couple of Harley's, like to hunt, fish and shoot guns. Can't wait till I drop enough weight till I can go climb in the woods again. I have a five year old grandson that likes to go camping, hope to be able to do more with him next year. pan head
