Topic: RE: forming central WV support group for WLS patients and those exploring surgery
Angela:
I know Williamstown well. I live in Parkersburg between Lubeck and Belleville. I have Blue Cross and Dr. Cox did my referral. I had already seen Dr. Stickler and knew that I needed a referral from my regular doctor to meet the guidelines. Dr. Stickler at Medabolix is the greatest. Plus, Womens Hospital in Charleston could not have treated me any better.
Feel free to email me at [email protected].

Topic: RE: Saturday Jan 13th, What did you eat today?
Wow, we're still not getting much in the way or responses over here, are we? Hopefully it will get better as time passes and we start making more regular use of the board....
Here's mine!
B--Egg Beaters with shredded cheddar and some chopped green peppers
L--breast from a rotissiere chicken (I was at Kroger's and they smelled sooooo good, so I bought one and ate the breast on the 25 minute drive home...)
D--homeade chili and a teeny bit of cornbread broke up in the bottom of the bowl
Whole day was 694 calories, 48.4 carbs, and 68 grams of protein...
Hugs,
Lea

Hi Peggy! I would most definately be interested since I live in Williamstown about 10 minutes from Parkersburg. I have not had surgery yet but I am looking for any information I can on the subject and any help I can get. I am new to all of this and cannot find a PCP that will help. Anything in this area would be welcomed!

Topic: RE: How can we shake this board up?????
This place needs CPR. I lurk here sometimes but hardly anything going on.
I buy supplements at bariatriceating.com and Ebay. I have been finding alot of good buys on Ebay lately.
Topic: RE: Do you plan your meals OR just go with the flow??
Early post op I planned everything. Now I go more with the flow since I can eat alot more variety now.
I never eat leftovers they always come back to haunt me.
Topic: RE: Pamper yourself one day a week
I know that MOST of us forget to do somehing nice for our self as we are so caught up in taking care of those around us. Were it not for our loved ones, many of us would have had this surgery much sooner! I don't know how I would have managed it when my kids were smaller, but I would be sooooo much healther now if I had done this (had the surgery) 10 years ago before my health started to decline.....
SO, how about some suggestions for ways to pamper yourself???
The bubble bath is a good one.
Maybe giving yourself a manicure or pedicure?
Let's hear some more suggestions!!
Hugs,
Lea
PS--Kim, please tell me that you were not in Dr. S's office on 12/11! I was in that group and did not have a clue who anyone else there was! LOL
Topic: RE: Do you plan your meals OR just go with the flow??
I plan each night's dinner for a week at a time and do a solid grocery shopping trip for that on the weekend. For lunch each day, I usually pick from whatever is leftover from our last few dinners. Today's lunch was leftover chicken paella (I uploaded this recipe to the Recipe forum). I always make sure to cover the dish with plastic wrap when I'm microwaving to reheat as I have trouble with stuff that is too dry or meat that gets tough when reheated.
My breakfasts are pretty much same-o, same-o day in and day out. I have had egg beaters wtih cheese and some green pepper most days for the last two weeks. The only other days I have had anything different, it has been sausage balls... I never was a breakfast eater, so I have to force myself to eat that meal even though I know how important it is to get your metabolism fired up in the AM. Since I don't enjoy the meal anyway, I hardly ever think about trying to improve what I am eating! LOL Plus, my kitty cat loves his eggs every morning! LOL
SO, other than the occasional snacks I eat, my meals are pretty much planned days ahead of time. I intentionally make more of a dinner meal that I know will make me a good lunch for a couple of days that week.
