I am new to the website. I was hoping for any suggestions for the protein drinks. I am 5 days out and am having a hard time with getting my protein in. It tastes horrible!
Topic: cost of lapband
Does anyone know what the cost of labpand is? My friends insurance does not cover this procedure, but she has been approved for a loan. She is probably going to have to goto Mexico. Just wondering what the difference in price here is. I know they usually charge less when it is self pay instead of with insurance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Topic: RE: Solid Food
Hi Christy, yes real food is awesome. I made some turkey chili and have been eating it since thursday. I'm not sure how much I have lost. The problem is they did not weigh me the day of surgery. I had not been weighing my self because they told me not to obsess about the scales. The last weight at the surgeon's office was 321, today I weighed 273. My highest weight was around 375. I was 369 at my first visit with the surgeon. Yeah I know that it is not real active here, I check in here every day though to see what, if any thing is going on. I figrue that if I post maybe some one else will also.

That is awesome. I am so happy for you. I had my surgery on 11/14/06 and have been on solid's for a month and a half with no issues. The WV Board is not real active, hopefully that will pick up. How much have you lost? Have you had any other issues. Me, I am down 70 + lbs with no issues. Hugs.

Topic: RE: Hello Everyone(RE:Dr. Shinn)
Christa,
Dr. Shin did my surgery. I had mine at St. Francis due to my insurance coverage. Dr. Shin is awesome! I have had no complications from my surgery and have been at my goal weight for over a year now, I had surgery in May 05. I'd do it again in a minute if I had to. It's natural to be nervous. I cried like a baby on my final pre-op visit, and I had worked hard for a year to get this surgery approved! I sucked it up and went through with it. I was still scared when they put me to sleep. I was afraid when they woke me up. It was a rough couple of first months, but after that it was all down hill. I have followed his directions and done well. Have you been to one of his seminars yet? If not, you have to go to begin the process. You'll meet with him and get lots of information and then you'll be able to decide if this is right for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Good luck,
Sonja

Hello fellow West Virginian's, yesterday was my first day of soid food. Everything went well. I had an egg over easy and a piece of turkey bacon for breakfast. Refried beans with cheese and taco sauce for lunch, and I made some turkey chili for dinner. The chili was really good. So far so good.

I might try to get in a snack before betime but it's doubtful.
I have been looking at my South Beach Diet Cookbook and have come up with some great sounding meals that are high in protein but not in calories so I'll be trying some of those next week.
I'm having Wendy's chili for lunch tomorrow since I know it's high in protein
