Well, so much for August 9th. We're talking mid-September now. AND I discovered I will be his FIRST sleeve gastrectomy - I'm not completely comfortable with that.
Dr. Akkary, if you are re-establishing yourself anywhere close by, I'd much rather stick with you! I was also unimpressed with their office's inefficiency.

Topic: Has anyone heard any news lately on Mountain State BCBS approving the sleeve
I had my first consult with Dr.Shin last week.I am wanting the sleeve.MSBCBS isnt approving right now, but i hear its around the corner hopefully by Jan 2011 thats when my 6 months will be up..Anyone heard any news on approval..

I'm hoping for an August 9th surgery date, so I've been working with Dr. Costa's office to try to get that done (I've a vacation on Labor Day weekend I want to be able to take!). However, my husband is only halfway through the process, so he would rather stay with you wherever you go. Good luck!

Dr. Akkary, welcome! Are you going to be setting up anywhere else? I would much rather stay with you if I can - but I've a limited window of time that I can take off work for the surgery :(

You might want to hold off Dragon.... I'm pretty positive Dr Akkary is going to be set up somewhere VERY soon (within the next 2-3 weeks).... I think you'll be sorry if you switch now. Just sayin

OK, Lynn at Dr. Akkary's former office said Dr. Costa in Greensburg, PA is taking on many of the patients. I've got a call into my insurance company to see if they'll cover him, as the closest surgeon they've got on their list is 2.5 hours away in Charleston. Dr. Costa would only be an hour away in PA. I should find out next week. Sigh.
