Topic: I'm approved!!!
Today I got the call I'm approved! I havent lost the weight that I was supposed to but I have a couple weeks to do that. Any suggestions? It has been a long wait I hope I can lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks.. Yeh I can do it!! I'm drinking protien drinks for breakfast and lunch then a very small dinner. Wish me luck!!
Topic: RE: Soreness
I dont experience tenderness in the creases between my legs but I do feel tenderness in my calf and thigh muscles. I was thinking it was because I had been unable to exercise for so long, my muscles turned to jello. I have begun walking on a treadmill for 10 minutes a day. Better than nothing.
As for camoflauging skin..Short sleeves and tight panties. I dont know what else to suggest. I heard that some women wear girdles or SPANX panty hose.
Im trying to get rid of some of that sagginess with my arms by lifting 3 lbs weights. I know it probably wont do much but better something than nothing.

Topic: Soreness
Has anyone has any soreness or tenderness in the creases between the legs since loosing weight? It is embarrassing but I can hardly sit or walk since I have lost some weight. Also, any suggestions on how to camoflauge the excess skin?
Topic: RE: Sick - what to do?
How are you doing? Any update? I am having the same problem, six weeks out although I dont throw up as much.
My angel gave me a couple of suggestions. Of course, if the DR told you otherwise, please ignore this.
This is what works for me:
Whole wheat toast, one slice, toasted... not burnt, not raw.. just crunchy enough. I have used Kroger Lite. It has .5 grams of fat and 4 grams of protein for 2 slices but I only eat one. Not to mention, fiber.
Low fat cheese. Any flavor. I prefer sharp cheddar but I have used fat free cream cheese and cream goat cheese. Good protein too! And Calcium!
Or Peanut Butter (Not Skippy or PeterPan.. whichever was on recall! )
I use a brand I picked up a Walmart (Naturally 'something', I think ) that was like $2.50 a jar. It had flax seed oil and was low in fat, sugar and calories. It needs to be stirred when you use it and it needs to be refrigerated once opened.
Im also drinking more of my proteins than eating them. I have been drinking GNC Liquid Protein, Punch flavored, mixed with water.
I agree completely with you when you say its much harder that originally thought. I have had some bad times so far too. Being optimistic is hard to do, but everyone tells me that things will get better.
Let's hope we see it soon.

Topic: RE: NEW TO THE MESSAGE BOARD!!!!!
Hello and welcome to the WV board!
As was already said, this board is a bit sluggish, but I am one of the ones who has tried recently to get folks to post and there just don't seem to be many folks who are willing to do so on a regular basis... Kim is another one who tries.... Maybe it's a WV thing? I find that folks here are pretty laid back and not too big on joining in on things! LOL
I had my surgery 8/29/06 with Dr. Stickler at Medabolix. He has an amazing follow up program and really wants his patients to learn the new lifestyle that will be required in order to be truly succesfull after WLS. It sounds like King's Daughters does too. My folks are from Ironton and South Point, so I know that area a bit. I actually spent 4 mos in South Point taking care of my Grandmother back in 1999 before we bought our home up here in Braxton County.
It sounds like you are determined to have a good experience with your surgery. I wish you only the best as you begin the process that is required. Don't be afraid to lose weight while getting ready for surgery! It can show the insurance company that you are willing to change your ways in order to be successful!
Biggest OH hugs!

Topic: RE: Sick - what to do?
Hi Debra, my suggestion would be to call Dr. Stickler's office, that is why he is paid the big bucks. Seriously, call his office and ask his staff for help. I did not have Dr. Stickler but I know my surgeon and his staff has been more than helpful. Some Dr.'s will prescribe something for nausea, "phenegren", some will not. There is no need to suffer though. I would also suggest that you not worry about protien as much as staying hydrated. Drink what ever you can keep down.

Topic: Sick - what to do?
My surgery was one week ago today in Charleston WV with Dr Stickler. Everything was perfect, got out Thursday, went back yesterday for my staples and drain tube to be removed. Since then I have been nauseated a lot. I am having trouble getting my protein in. Only getting about 30 per day. Today I have been nauseated all day. I read and it said I wasn't drinking enough, but if I drink, I get worse. I eat and do alright for a little and then get sick again. I get to coughing because of being nauseated and then eventually it all comes up.
I don't know what to do? Any help? This has been so much harder than I thought it would.
