Hello All:
For newbies and not so newbies, I just wanted to let you know that there is a forum on Obesity Help called the Black American Forum (BAF). If you are not familiar with it, please feel free to stop by to post comments, questions or concerns.
Want to know how to get there:
Click on "Forums" at the top of the page and you will see a drop-down menu
Click on "Show All Forums" and you will see several boxes with forum names in them
On the left side in the bottom box, click on "Black American"
And then you will be at BAF
Come by and post a comment. We would love to see you there.

I have hit a plataeu. My bariatric surgery was Dec, 05 and I have lost approximately 128 lbs. I don't exercise, I have no modivation. When I start to eat, I WANT about 2 tbs full but when I eat more, lets say a Weigh****chers entree, I feel guilty. If I don't, I am hungry again in a couple of hours. Guilt seems to play a big part. I feel very uneducated.

i didn't mean to scare you, have no idea why they said that. i would have had it done at wvu if my insurance would of covered it, cause i know how to get to wvu. pittsburg and finding the right place scares me, although i've been there once and now before my surgery date they have moved, my daughter howeve believes it is in the same area sure hope so.

Hi Sherry,
I wish you good luck with the insurance. Who do you have coverage with. I have been denided with Health Plan 3 times.
I have my First meeting with the Doc April 3rd. It was March 20th and they called and changed it. Boo....I,m so ready have eveything done and now have to self pay, so I,m hoping he say lets get it done soon. Not sure if he has the clear liquid thing, but i'm ready to start that also.

Hi. I am from Marshall County. I have attended a seminar in Morgantown and plan on going there when/if I have the surgery. Insurance is my hold-up right now too.

The formula is still the same. More calories less exercise and weight comes back. Remember that the GBS is only a tool. The rest is up to you. I recommend that you weight regularly. My wife and I weigh every day. Over a few days we can spot a trend and act accordingly.
Get your protein in before you eat much of anything else. Try to do 45-60 grams and get all of your water/liquids in every day.
Look at pictures of yourself prior to the surgery and ask yourself if you really want to go back there.
If the surgery has done for you what it did for my wife and me, count your blessings. We got our vitality back and feel 10 years younger. We never, ever want to go back to where we were a year ago.
I know that this sounds like "tough love" but there is no magic bullet.

upmc is a hospital of excellence for biactric surgery and wvu is not. my insurance would only cover a hospital of excellents,there are none in wv. when i went to pittsburg all they kept telling me is they were glad I wasn't having it done in w.v.
