Topic: plastic surgeon in wv
I had my surgery scheduled with Dr. Bandak in Charleston for May 24th, and then I got a call today that said Dr. Bandak has "left the practice and no one knows where he went."
I am highly disappointed. I was sooo looking forward to this surgery, and now I'm back to step one, not even having a consultation. I made my initial appointment with him in January, that's how long it took me to get an appointment, now I'm probably looking at not getting another one until fall.
I guess my question is does anyone else know of any qualified plastic surgeons in my area (beckley area)? I have a very busy schedule (two jobs and full time college) and it would be difficult for me, living by myself and all, to travel long distances to have consultations and the surgery.

Appreciate your response. Yes, if I don't eat enough protein, I'm weak, tired, and "just don't feel good". I rarely get the amount I need but for sure I feel better when I do. Once I find out if the support group would be a beneficial for enough interested people, I can check into instant messaging or phone participation. I have a speaker phone in my office so that is not out of the question. Keep checking this forum for specific dates, times, locations.
Best wishes,
Donna

Great. Right now the hospital I'm working at wants to check into helping me by providing this support group as one of our community offered groups. They can advertise and do "all the stuff community relations does". If they do that's great, and if not, that's okay too. As an employee I still have the benefits of using our facility and several of my co-workers will help out. Keep checking on this forum. As soon as I find if there are enough of "us" out there that would be interested, I'll provide exact times, dates, locations.

Thank you so much for your reply. A support group would be great. I could participate by phone or instant messaging. I live in Berkeley Springs, WV. Soon, we will retired and traveling the US in our motor home, so phone or computer is all I can offer. I'm still learning what I can and can't eat. Sometimes greasy things are ok and sometimes I dump. Go figure. Still in my plateau and wondering about how much to eat or just to snack. Donna, do you feel badly when you don't eat protein for even one day?

Hey Donna, Heck yeah! I'm in Parsons about 45 min from you. I would so come to the support group meetings. I have a friend here who also had RNY. She is a nurse at DM. I will check with her too.

If so, do you know of a good PCP in the area that has experience with WLS patients?
Thanks,

No problem. There are enough people out there who have had the surgery, awaiting surgery, or interested in the surgery that would benefit from a support group. Best wishes. :-)

I don't mean to intrude on your post, but I live in eastern KY and my friend & I are trying to get a support group started. I know you're too far away to come to us, but I thought I might get some interested readers from your posting.
Our support group will probably meet in Pikeville, KY or Inez, KY. These places are only minutes from the KY/WV line and any WV weight loss people are welcome.
If anyone in WV near the KY border is interested, send me a shout-out and I'll see what I can get together.
Again, sorry to intrude on your post!

My surgery was in November 2005 and I'm starting to have the same problems. I'm considering starting a support group in Buckhannon and asking a dietician friend of mine to work with me. You and I both need some support, more education, and some ideas from other patients who have, or are, dealing with this.

Your doctor will help Medicaid make the final decision by his documentation to support the facts you have morbid health conditions that are affected by, or a result of, your obesity. His letter will need to be very detailed and may need to include supporting documentation. Good luck.
