Topic: Beckley WLS Support Grp Mtg 06/11
Hi Everyone! Wow! This month's meeting really slipped us on us, didn't it?
The Beckley WLS Support Group meeting will be held on MONDAY, June 11, from 7:00-9:00pm at Raleigh General Hospital on Harper Road, Beckley. Our meeting location is in the Education Center (annex building on the Kroger side of RGH). Entrance is at the top of the wheelchair ramp. Guests are welcome and everyone is encouraged to attend!
This month: Regular discussion about weight-loss surgery, food, plastic surgery, and anything important to you!
We have a clothing exchange at each meeting! You are welcome to bring any clothes that no longer fit you and take home some that do. As you lose out of them, bring them back and exchange them for others! You do not have to bring clothing to take clothing, and bringing clothing is not required.
Restaurant cards for Dr. Shin and Dr. Stickler's patients (as well as some other area doctors) will be available for anyone who needs one. Don't forget to bring a recipe (or two...or three) for our online group cookbook (or you can email them to us), a "before" picture (if you have one), or even bring some "before" clothes!
You can view our monthly calendar by visiting our support group website at http://www.geocities.com/beckleywlssg/ The 2007 meeting dates are also listed below.
Looking forward to seeing you Monday!
Beth

Topic: RE: Self Pay for WLS
You might call his office and see when he is doing a seminar. If I am not mistaken he does them in Paintsville, Ky as well as Ashland and other places. I looked on their website and at present there are none listed. Their regular support group meeting is the second Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm. Although I do not attend those regularly, they do have a big turn out.

Thanks Panhead for the reply. I think that I will call around. I have heard good things about Dr. Wheeler too. Thank you again!

Hi Kim,
You will find it varies greatly from surgeon to surgeon. The best thing to do would be to call around and ask their fees. I can highly recomend Dr. Wheeler at Kings Daughters in Ashland. His office number is 606-329-2888. They have a great team there. His staff is great.

Let the words of my mouth and meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, oh Lord my strength and my redeemer.
I was so happy to watch and see Allen make it through his surgery safely and was happy that the doctors found that hernia so they could repair it.

I caught the show last night and really liked it, I think it will be an interesting program and will hopefully teach us all something new with each episode.
Topic: Self Pay for WLS
Does anyone have any idea of the cost of WLS if paid for out of pocket? Has anyone had their surgery financed? Any information would be appreciated.

I think Union is closer to Morgantown than Charleston, if I'm not mistaken. If that's so, then you might want to check out the WVU hospitals, they have a big bariatric department. I don't see why you couldn't get your fills done there if you had your surgery elsewhere
