Hi Tammy I know how you feel. I have been trying for over 5 years to get weight loss surgery as well.. Wv medicaid requires that you have diabetes which now I have, be either on a walker, wheelchair or cane which I am now. I was on a diet with my doctor took adipex for 6 months and gained it back when I ended up in the hospital for a month while I got the lovely steroids. I called the customer service on the back of the card and broke down on them~ I now have pickwiccan syndrome due to being obese. I go back in the hospital for the second part of my sleep study. So yea it does get trying but girl hang in there. I called dr shin first and they cancelled my seminar he had to go out of town now that is set up for July 12th. All of my drs cardiologist and pulmonary and family doctor told me that if I didn't get this done soon I would die and you would think that the state would like me being healthy again trust me I made more money working then what I get on disabilty. So, I understand what you are going thru. We have to believe that miracles do happen and that we are special cause don't make junk.. Take care !

I think no matter where you go in WV you will find your really never more than ten to fifteen minutes at most from a rural area. You will also find several bariatric programs in WV. Huntington has 2. I am not sure how many Charleston has but if you search for local hospitals you will find them. I live near Huntington and I went to King's Daughers Medical Center which is just across the river in Ky. They were the first Center of Excellence in the area. You can go to www.kdmc.com and there is a link at the bottom of the page for there surgical weight loss program. I am the one on the motorcycle. If you go through the profiles on their web site you will figure it out. The Huntington and Barboursville area both have new high schools, built in the last 10 years or so. pan head

I have tried Isopure - gag!, GNC - works in a pinch, EAS - can't get past the vitamin smell and taste, and Smartforme - this is by far my favorite. I get the ready to drink in mocha and vanilla. Goes down easy, not chalky or "unmixed feeling" Order from their website at www.smartforme.com They have a lot of protein stuff as you get further past your surgery. Good luck!

SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO GET BACK. ELKVIEW IS ABOUT 10 MINUTES FROM CHARLESTON, WV. IT IS LOCATED ON INTERSTATE 79, EXIT 9 . I REALLY LIKE THE LOCATION AND HAVE LIVED IN THE PINCH / ELKVIEW AREA FOR 16 YEARS. WHEN YOUNGER, I LIVED IN THE HURRICANE AREA AND MOVED TO SOUTH CHARLESTON. FROM THERE TO PINCH AND THEN ON TO ELKVIEW.

I am a Beckley Gal here! I have lived in this area since I was born. I love it! My sisters are scattered in all different areas in North Carolina. I will admit, its nice to visit, but there is no place like home. I am actually about 10 minutes outside of Beckley in Eccles. My kids go to a great school and I couldnt be more happy.

What is it that you do with the Fed Gov? I know the Fed Court and Fed Prison is here in Beckley if that is the sort of work that you do.

Its a great area. Research it, I am sure you will be pleased. Plus, my surgeon is only like 30 minutes away. He also has great reviews.

If you choose the Huntington area Dr Nease is a great doctor to see. He and his staff are very helpful and return calls promptly. They have taken wonderful care of me since I began the WLS journey last year.

Hi Jamie, I too highly recommend Dr. Nease. Staff is fabulous. Another great place to look is the Milton or Hurricane area in West Virginia. Hurricane is right in the middle between Charleston and Huntington. I personally live in Nitro a small town which I love but it isn't country territory. Temperatures are fabulous in this area. I hate snow, we just get enough to enjoy and then go away. I don't like to be hot and miserable, can set out on my porch in the evenings....gotta love that. Take care, Melinda
