If anyone is tricare standard in here, and are post op please let me know if you had to pay for anything up front or if you know where I can get info from about this, because I am just getting so discouraged it seems like everything is happening to prevent this surgery. I got a letter from charleston area medical center in west virginia which is where I will be having my surgery. Now it seems that I have to pay my patients portion before my surgery which is in 10 days and the cost that they are asking for is over $1900 dollars in 10 days. this is so stupid I have never heard of this. I thought that they would submit all claims to my insurance. I am so upset . I get this letter today, and I go for pre-op on wenesday. Please pray for me. This journey has been so hard, and a lot of times I am ready to throw in the towel, but something inside says just hold on.....

Honey I have tricare standard and I havent had to pay anything up front...the only portion I owe for my surgery is 500.00 not including the doctors visits but I went through Doctor Blaine Nease in Huntington. Don't give up. I'm sure if you contact the insurance company or speak with the surgery billing department you may be able to work something out!!!

We changed to TRICARE Prime and are very happy with the coverage. The $40 per month is well worth it and quite a bit below what my state insurance coverage was. Our medications are less and doctor visits are less. Deductibles for sugery are non existent ($11 per day). I wish I had made the move five years ago.
