finally :)
Hi, I have been a lurker here for a few years, I have been preparing for this surgery since Feb of this year, as far as testing goes, well I finally got a date set, it is Aug.24th, in Huntington. Dr.Nease is the surgeon, and I feel like I have a good 1 in him. I am so excited, nervous, scared, you name it, its all 1 big natural high! I guess I just had to share this with someone, I live alone, but I envy each and every one of you that has had this done, I live for the day of not having so much pain in everything I try to do. I feel like I am being giving a second chance here, so I know I better not mess it up! lol.....I would like to hear from anyone that is going thru Cabell-Huntington, and Dr.Nease, to me I think he is a god-send. Have a good weekend out there, hope to hear from somebody.

Hi Susan,
I did not go through Dr. Nease or Cabell Huntington Hospital, but I have heard good things about both.
I feel (too) I have been given a second chance. It is definitely one of the best decisions I have made. I understand your "pain". I am 6 months out and the back and leg pain are gone. It feels good to just feel good. But before the surgery, I was nervous and excited all at the same time.
Keep us posted and good luck! Thoughts and prayers are sent your way.
good morning Barb,
it was a nice surprise to see your email this morning! Vienna is a nice little town isnt it? I hope you get your insurance things done and get approved, are you going thru Charleston to have yours done? I have a good friend that went thru Dr.Strickler there, and they say he is the best, so I wish you the best with yours too. My days are getting closer, I am so excited, but scared at the same time, I thought I would never see this day come. You take care of yourself, and I sure will be praying for you too! stay in touch when you can.

Yes... having surgery here in Charleston. I'm currently going to Dr. Stickler. There have been several people (men and women) I know where I work who have been his patients. I hear nothing but raves about him and the facility where the surgery is done.
I know how you feel... excitement, worry, elation, fears, hope, ... all those emotions keep rolling around!
Keep posting... we'll all be here to support you!

Susan, I had surgery at Cabell and Dr Nease was my surgeon. He and his staff are wonderful. You just have to keep on them nurses about pain medicine and getting you up to walk. Other than that everything went well with my surgery and I was overall satisfied with the nursing staff. Don't let them lie to you and tell you the swallow test isnt that bad. It is horrible. But after a few the taste gets out of your mouth, and youll be fine! Congrats on the date. I hope everything goes well.
