What would you ask a politician who could help you???
Hi Friends! It's me again, your trusty pest, continuing to ask you for info that will aid in my lobbying the government on a local, state and national level to eliminate obesity discrimination AND to make insurance coverage for surgical weight loss a mandatory benefit. Even though I'm in Alabama I am working to lobby all 50 states. It's pay it forward time..........can you please, please help me by answering this question. If you could sit face to face with anyone in power and make a difference.....what would you say to them about WLS and how it will change or has changed your life? Hugs, Rona
Your Bari-Godmother
Hi Rona,
I am a 33 year old mother of 2 teenage daughters. I have worked as a nurse since I was 18 years old. I worked everyday when I weighed 110 pounds and I worked everyday when I weighed 354 pounds. I guess my point of stating that is that alot of times society views us as lazy when we are MO. Like all we do is si****ch tv and eat.
I got sick of being viewed as lazy or inferior. Do you know that since I have had weight loss surgery and now weigh 158 pounds people for some reason think I have gotten smarter, Im complimented more, people actually iniate conversation with me and people even open doors for me now.
Im not sure if anyone even realizes that I am the same person just in a smaller body. Dont get me wrong I love the way I feel now. I am so much healthier and I havent even had so much as a cold since I have surgery and I am most greatful for surgery as I feel that it has saved my life. I was only existing before now I am LIVING LIFE. I just wish people could have seen that I was smart and deserved to be spoken to when I was MO maybe I would have had better self esteem then.
Thanks for listening and trying to make a difference.
Teresa
