I needs everyone prayers, Please

Hi everyone Today I found out that Accorda National PEIA has denied me the gastro by-pass because I have had 4 adbominal surgeries. It is a new rule that started May 1, that if a person has had 3 or more adbominal surgeries that they will not approve them for the surgery. So because I had a C-section, a tumor removed, and 2 abdominal hernias then they say that I can not have the surgery. I think this is wrong because I had all of these over 10 years ago. I have appealed this decision and hope that the committee will change their mind and allow me to have it. Please everyone pray that they will. Thank you Susan Kennedy

Hi...I am really praying for you..I have the same insurance and now im scared they will not approve me because I have had 2 c-sections and a lapcoli(gall bladder) surgery.... 3 abnominal .... I hope everything works out for you.. God Bless You !!!!!!!

Susan, Do you know what the reasoning is for that? I have never heard anyone denied for that reason. I too have Accordia National WVPEIA I had surgery though on 09/11/2003. I wish you lots of luck. Teresa

I was told that the reason was because of scare tissue. It is a new rule that just started this month, May. I hope that there is some way that it can be overruled and I can have my surgery. Please pray.

Susan,I am so sorry about this, I have heard that medicare and wv medicaid are adopting the same policies.I will pray for the appeal board to turn over your denial.God bless.Darlilly

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as well. I really honestly don't understand why insurance companies make it so hard. I think that they should give this surgery to whomever wants it because of all of the good that it does and the lives it has saved. Would they deny someone of chemotherapy/radiation because they have cancer?? Insurance companies need to start realizing that M.O. is a deadly disease and they should treat it as such!!! thanks for letting me get that out! --Lori

I will pray that everything works out for you. I also have PEIA and was aware that their policy would be changing 5/1, but was not aware of the 3 surgery rule. When was your paper work submitted? I got approval after 5/1, but asked PEIA that the old criteria apply since my paperwork was submitted prior to 5/1. I am having surgery 7/9. Keep calling them and go the extra mile. They say the squeaky wheel gets the oil!! Good luck. Linda Cavins
