Normal length of time for approval from doctor ?

I had my psych. evaluation on Thursday, April 2 at Dr. Stickler's office. Can anyone tell me the normal time it takes for the team to decide if you area candidate for surgery or not? After my psych. eval. she told me she saw no problem and should have a letter submitted to the doctor in a couple of days. I was not sure about the process and know so many of you have been through it so thought I would ask the experienced. Any response would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Jenn

Darlene, Congratulations on your new journey. It now has been a week since my psych. eval. and am finding myself dwelling on wanting them to call just to say they have accepted me and they are seding my information to the insurance. I want this so bad and am afraid that I will be turned down. Good luck to you too! Jenn

Hi, As best as I can remember the group (staff of metabolix) meets on Friday to determine who is accepted for surgery. Didnt take over 10 days from my psych. visit Im sure. I actually went to seminar on July 25, 2003 and had my surgery on 09/11/03 so everything went really fast.Good luck. Teresa

Congratulations on your weight loss! Everything did go fast for you. I wish that I could say the same thing. I went to the seminar on 02/20/04, had my first consult with Dr. Stickler and the dietician on 03/18/04, and then I had my psych. on 04/01/04. My only fear is the insurance not approving it. I want to be on the losing side so bad. I noticed that you live in Princeton. Is there a support group there? Charleston is really to far for me to go for the support groups. Thanks for your help.

No there is no support group meeting here that I know of. I havent been to any meetings just here on obesityhelp I get more help here than anywhere. I have accordia WVPEIA insurance they submitted my stuff on Wed. and the insurance approved me on Friday. I hope yours ggoes well too. Teresa

Hi Barb! Good luck to you also. It seems like the day will never get here for me. I am sure it is like that for everyone. I started out with the seminar on 2/20 and the consult on 3/18 and the psych on 4/1. I was hoping to have surgery in May but not looking too hopeful. It is right around the corner. Jenn
