Just having a pity party.

Hi! Just a note to ask you folks to remember me as I am kind of having a bad day. I found out that I cannot get the funding needed to have surgery. I know that I am stating stuff that everyone has heard before, but this is new for me. We used to have insurance. That is, until my husband lost his job last year. Now, we have nothing, and I am nearing 50! Is there any help for folks (with medical problems due to obesity) wanting to have WLS in West Virginia who is willing to help someone without insurance or cannot get funding? Please do not mention Medicaid, because I have already checked that out, and the department states that I make too much on unemployment to be eligible for Medicaid. I was so excited about the prospect of WLS for my obesity, but I have discovered that this may only be a dream . . . and nothing more. I have been crying a little, so please overlook my "pity party" session. I am trying to be brave and hold on a little longer, but I get so tired of reality. There are no local bariatric surgeons where I live, and the ones I have tried to contact want upfront payments in full before they perform surgery. Thanks for listening! Kathy

Kathy, After your unemployment runs out apply for social security disability or SSI. Then you can get medicare parts a & b.. then you can try again for medicaid... this seems like a lot of waiitng but I dont see where you have many options. Perhaps a new job and better insurance is on the horizon.. Good Luck!!!
