Any WV state employees have a lap procedure?

i have been fighting PEIA for a year now trying to get them to approve a Lap Band. they are bunch of idiots, i am so mad. Anyway---if anyone on this board is a state of WV employee who had a LAP RNY paid for by PEIA, Acordia, i would LOVE to hear from you so i can craft an appeal. you can write to me at [email protected] please help, if you can. thanks so much.

I also have PEIA. I was told that under no cir****tances would they approve a lap. I am waiting for my approval for open RNY. My surgeon's office faxed it last Friday morning and I am trying to not go crazy waiting. Good luck. I'm sorry that I didn't have any good news.

I was also told by PEIA that they only cover the procedure if its done open and it has to be a medical neccesity. I was approved in two weeks on my first try, and yes I'm very excited. I've had many surgeries in the past and its not that bad. I had a hysterectomy and had it open as well with fifteen staples and it wasn't exactly fun but I recovered rather quickly from that so this can't be too different. Good luck!!

I have performed at least 40 laparoscopic RNY procedures on State Employees and have never had a problem with approvals. Dr. Stickler
